What Food or Snack You Can Not Resist and Do Not Buy
Seems we all have a weakness for some type of food or snack that just stands no chance of lasting more than a few days or even hours once brought home.
I have a great weakness for potato chips. Especially the thick cut kind that are slightly over cooked so they are a bit brown and super crispy. Some come with sea salt and black pepper. A great weakness I can not overcome. I will set the stage.
I have been left stranded in a huge dessert with no water or supplies. It has been over two days since I have had any water. As I stumble and crawl along in the 100+ degree heat and inescapable sun I see an oasis up ahead. Overhead the vultures have been circling slowly descending.
When I arrive a vending machine with a two position lever will let me choose only one item to dispense, one time, cool water or crispy salty potato chips.
The vultures will be feeding soon.

Those dried fruit and nut combos without the peanuts. Halfway thru the bag I'll notice that it serves 8. Oh well, it's good for me, right?
Save the peanuts for the peanut M&Ms.

Chex snack mix with an adult beverage is a strong contender.
The other is Reeses Peanut Butter cups. They cannot be in the house. Ever.

Red licorice is my big weakness. I miss the kind they used to make but must have had Red Dye #9 and you can't get the good stuff anymore so it's Switzlers for me now or nothing.
Also I love pistachios too. I used to get the five pound bags from Iran many years ago and still think them better than the California kind we have now. Maybe they just had more salt but sure were good and would get sick eating too many of them.

Plain o' glazed doughnuts. We both crave them all the time but only about 2 or 3 times a year do we indulge.
I have also been hooked on the following:
Sunflower seeds
Corn nuts
Pistachio nuts

Ice cream, chocolate, potato chips among others. At times, after eating ice cream I'll have stomach issues. My wife tells me I'm probably lactose intolerant and shouldn't eat any. Yeah right! Like that's going to happen.
I also don't know who decides how many portions are in a given package. I know my consumption of most snacks doesn't work out portion wise to what each package says. This works pretty much the same way with breakfast cereal. I never get the portion numbers out of a box that they say I should get.

RUFFLES chips......Or the traditional, greasy, old style thick chips.
I will occasionally "fall off the wagon" , buy a bag and eat the entire bag in an evening.

A southern friend introduced me to Moon Pies. Yikes. From a northern friend she introduced me to Krispy Kremes. Not easy to get the later. The banana Moon pies are a bane, weakness and addiction.
Alaska treat. Seal oil that is white and just a little foggy is fresh, however some women know how to let it age until it is tea brown. The difference between grape juice and a fine single malt.

Homemade Brand Reds' Grand Slam Ice Cream. Peanut butter ice cream with peanut butter cups and chocolate fudge.
Thank God they don't make it year round (seasonal). That's about the only way I can avoid buying it. If you love ice cream, peanut butter, and chocolate. This stuff will change your life.

I don't buy Bugles these days. If I buy them I'll eat them. A lot of them.
I've had to quit buying good vanilla ice cream for the same reason.
I'm a cheap date.

Oh Lord there are so many.
Oatmeal raisin cookies to start, peanut butter filled pretzel bites (soooooo addictive), real Chex mix, not the commercial stuff.
Chocolate (with port) oh I'm in heaven. I will indulge on occasion with that. Was introduced to a new after dinner liqueur called Faretti recently, a mixture of biscotti, orange, and cinnamon. It is 28% alcohol and it goes down so easy. Just another temptation I must succumb to.
There are many other temptations but you get the idea.

Hostess Cupcakes. When I was a kid, I would walk my dog to Tunechi's (47th Street & LaGrange Rd), tie her outside, and buy a package of them for a quarter.

Pistachios and certain (not all!) potato chip brands. No sense in buying either one 'cause they won't last more than half a day and then they're gone no matter how much there was. Pretty sad to be so weak but it is what it is.

I've got a severe weakness for those Cadbury Easter Eggs, especially the caramel ones. On the salty side, potato chips of course. Lots of different ones, but the salt & vinegar kettle cooked ones are the best. You never want to get between me & a chunk of white chocolate...it could be worth your life!

Pecan pie. I will not buy it and stay away from places that serve it. Haven't had any in about 2 years. If I were going to pass away in 10 minutes and were given one last thing to eat I would request pecan pie.

I used to think I couldn't survive without a philly cheesesteak or hoagie but I did.
When I go to the market my taste buds tell me if there is some snack that I'd want.Sometimes it's salty like pretzels or chips.Sometimes it's a little sweet like a pound cake or muffins.
I only food shop once a month so If I eat the junk food right away I just have to wait a month. It's the only discipline I have.

Reeses Peanut Butter Easter eggs. One time I purchased around six full cases on after Easter clearance and devoured a package a day for months. Not that I stopped buying them or even got tired of them.
I do not buy sardines much anymore. I like the Norwegian bristling ones on good saltines. My kids will eat them too. My wife always complained of the smell though

There was a drive-in in Spartanburg that served pecan pie hot with butter melted on it. AMAZING!!!
I hope that helps.
Just checked, The Beacon is still in business.
