Arrrr.Thems that dies are the lucky ones. Arrrrr.
You can guess where this is leading IF your fans of Robert Lewis Stevenson and Treasure Island. Though the version I just watched yesterday isnt the best version of the movies made bearing the same name--its pretty darn good for an older--now about twenty five or so years--made for TV movie made by TBS. This one starred Charlton Heston as Long John Silver,::::::doing a fantastic job as usual:::::::: Oliver Reed as Billy Bones:::doing a fantastic job as usual::::::Christopher Lee and the surprise for me Christian Bale--who was the "kid."
The only way you can get this DvD is by MoD--unless some company like WM or deepdiscountdvd.com had copies made for saleon their shelves--which is starting to happen.
Anyway,I love the way Charlton Heston said that line when he and his Pirates were attacking a blockhouse.
Arrrr, this is a good movie to have your wives and or girlfriends get you for Fathers Day. Arrr.

I too thought that Chuck's was a good version of this classic story. Very strong cast and very well directed.

I did too. Also, the director was his son: Frasier C. Heston. I wish he would direct more movies...

I agree, Ringo, the Heston version was much superior to the Disney predecessor which made people think that all pirates sounded like Robert Newton's super-broad West Country accent. Which many didn't. Some came fom Devon and Cornwall, but many were Irish, Scots, or denizens of Liverpool or London or all kinds of places. Some pirate captains were educated and came from fine old families who probably never said "Arrr".
"Arrr" was not universal or obligatory among pirates. Sorry.

Heh heh, Heston is always convincing. I read somewhere where it was Robert Newton who started all that Arrrrrr stuff. I also heard watching Legends and Lies--that Disney started that "Davy" as in David Crockett; thing. Man my bubbles have been burst. Arrrrrrgh.

Now this is the dumbest, stupidest thing I've ever read on this forum.
Of course all pirates said "Arrr" or "Arrrgh."
I'm sure I saw it on the History Channel.
