Daughters - who's got 'em?
Mine is 22 today. But she'll always be this kid to me.
I've got 2 fine sons who I love with all my heart, but there is something about Dads and daughters.

You are correct about the father/daughter connection. Every time I have had a medical hiccup, my girls have dropped what they were doing and raced to help old dad. I have granddaughters and grandsons and I love being "Papaw" but nothing melts me like hearing my girls call me "Daddy".
Having no sons and living in a house filled with females, I learned early on to put the seat back down and how to shop for "girl stuff" once a month.
I love my girls and I am blessed to have the family line-up that I do now.
Tell her happy birthday.

I have four sons and a daughter. My daughter is the youngest at 18 months. So far she is the dirtiest and meanest. She refuses to wear shoes and does not like to wear clothes. She likes to rub food in her hair, hates baths, and delights in chances to either eat her own poop or throw it. When upset she tries to dig in her nails and claw. It was a real source of delight for her when she learned how to pull her brother's hair. She refuses attempts to comb or brush her own hair, so it has grown into a sort of natural mullet.
She fits in her brother's three t clothes and to the extent that she tolerates clothes prefers these to any of the pretty dresses and outfits meant for her.
At one point her brothers gave her a capgun, which she literally teethed on. When they gave her a realistic looking toy knife, she took to sleeping with it grasped in one hand while sucking the thumb of her other hand.
She has the somewhat rare distinction, shared with two brothers, of having been conceived on Parris Island.

I have two step daughters 10 & 12.
They have taken at LEAST 8 years off my life.
Nothing special about it.
I will leave it at that.

Youngest of four kids is my daughter...grew up tough and well protected. She has just turned 37 and has a three year old and one year old sons. Great mother, wife, fashion designer, and professional photographer. Yeah, I am just a little bit proud of her.

Busy week, daughter 1 gets her nursing degree tomorrow & I am flying to NY to enjoy her graduation and daughter number 2 just got her first car yesterday. What a week, one college paid off and now to worry about a young driver.
I need to buy more guns; oh yeah I am broke.

Have one daughter. She's 28. She still hasn't figured out that she's not smarter than me. But I still love her.

Just one, she'll be 32 next week. Heavy into cross fit training and getting along well with her new career in a research lab at MD Anderson cancer center. Only thing is, she can beat me up, but takes it easy on me.
I can't play basketball with her, one on one anymore, cause she hits me with a hip move and knocks me out of bounds.

I have a soft spot in my heart for My Little Girl . She can always make my eyes misty with the home made cards she gives me. She turned Thirty this past July, man that made me feel old. Thank God that she got her looks from her Mother.

I don't have kids but I watch Nutnfancy on YouTube and he had a recent video series about daughters specifically. Worth checking out even if you don't like him, you might agree with some of his parenting principles/advice.

Sig, nice photo, I too remember Daddy, Daddy read me this, fix this, eat this mud pie
i jus made. Daddy choke this boyfriend. Daddy that boys mean to me, hand out the pain.
I had 3 daughters and 3 sons. I do love them all and the grand kids. They in turn love me.
But while all of you are breaking an arm to pat yourselves on the back, I do remember a time (girl age 11-22) that I might have traded them for a nice Colt, horse or pistol and some times a nice photo would have worked.
But we got the ladies raised, 2 RN's and 1 is a MBA banker. From the daughters, 2 granddaughters and 4 grandsons and they all love Dad or Papa. And Mom/Nana in case she breaks the code and gets in here.
From the sons 3 grandsons so far.

Daughters - who's got 'em?
Mine was 1 last Sunday but since she was born 3 1/2 months early her adjusted age is 8 1/2 months. When born she weighed 1 lb 7 oz and stayed in the hospital 6 months. She is doing great, though.

Nico, all the best for your little girl. Serious, man. Cause mine was born 2 months premature (in Mexico). She's 33 now and a firefighter in a major Texas city, a marathon runner and Iron Man competitor.
Has her old mans warped sense of humor-- a backbone and a funnybone, and drpdead gorgeous.

Got a 7yr old princess, she is bullheaded like her mother, grand mother and great grandmother.
She has a near photographic memory and yes the smartest one in the house.
She remembers everything.
Got a 4yr old boy.., enough said.

we had just one child, and was glad to have a daughter. She's 27, and the mama to our 2yr old grandson. She very much still looks like a tiny teen (i've learned not to always pre-judge a young looking mother these days lol) but has a good career and family life of her own.
Must have did something right, as while she had her girly girl cheerleader times growing up, she's also a hard core tuner girl ( has a supercharged Acura for her summer toy) and when younger used to go bowfishing with me. I still have the pic of her at 13, in a bikini with a 36" gar on the end of an arrow..... all in front of the governors mansion on the water here.
Yeah, daddy/daughter relationships can really be special.

Wow! - your post sure said it all for me. Mine just turned 22 as well. And what an adorable picture, but I am sure she would just as soon you didn't post it too often.
As to the sons, I have only one - but I wouldn't trade him for anything. We get along well (I think! ) and I have always been proud of him.
Happy 22! to your daughter.

My daughter is fifty, and gave birth to a beautiful little girl when she was forty-four. Also has a ten-year-old son who has been charming the ladies since he was two.

Two for me, Irish twins, 12 and 13. The thirteen year old is a beast on the lacrosse field and volleyball court. The just turned 12 year old is 5' 8" and wears mens size 10s - oh did I mention she is a monster on the basketball court.

Mine is 15...going on 35!!! Not a bad kid at all...she hunts deer and bear with a crossbow.
There's an old Irish saying...a son is a son until he takes a wife,
but your daughter is your daughter for the rest of your life!!!!!

I am blessed with four 15, 18, 19, 23. I wouldn't trade them for anything. When my father was alive I said what gives all girls. He said remember one thing- when you have a boy you are a father, when you have girl you are a Daddy and always will be. Oh yeah he also said keep an eye on your wallet it will always be empty now- boy was he right -lol

Oh you mean like these? I have two daughters, 35 and 31. The oldest has three sons. My stepson has a boy and a girl, so 5 grandchildren in all. Really makes you feel old.
Talk about feeling old, stopped for breakfast with a buddy this morning on the way back from Maine. They have a bar and liquor license. There was an adjustable calendar on the wall that said if you were born after May 24, 1994 you would not be served. I said to my buddy, holy hanna, that means I make it by 44 years.
Talk about feeling old.

I know EXACTLY what you mean! I have a daughter born in 1976. I brought her up by myself, (long story) and she is a wonderful person and a great Mom!. I have three outstanding Grandsons now and she is still my most favorite person in the world!!! She is the treasure of my life and my best friend!

We were able to adopt.....
We were able to adopt our son, but having more kids went out of the picture. I'm hoping that since I never had a daughter, maybe I'll get a granddaughter one day.
