I had sent my model 700 to Remington for trigger and saftey rework, they recieved it on 6/9/15 and typed up the the return ticket on 6/16/15 and I got it monday the 22nd. It has a smooth trigger face now and it feels right with a good trigger pull, they had said on the website to allow a minumim of 12 weeks turn-around. Was pleased with their service. Jeff

JRM, Do you have a idea of what poundage they set you trigger at. My preferred target setting is 19 ounces, and for field use I like 24 to 30 ounces. I have friends that go for 2 oz. target and 4 to 6 oz. field, but that is too light for me! Ivan

ETA: My Savage 308 10 BAS came from the factory with a 19 ounce setting and my 338 110 BA came with a 12 ounce setting. On the other end of the spectrum I have a Colombian military rifle from the 1890's that has a 22 pound trigger, that trigger is huge, so I use 2 fingers- the gun works fine on ground hogs at Iron sight ranges. Sent mine in, came back in a timely fashion as well.

Had a wonderful new trigger installed, filled with the wonders of a measured 6-lb pull that felt like they'd used sand for a lubricant!

Additionally, the adjustability of the new trigger is less than pleasing. If I keep the rifle, it's getting a Timney.

I swapped all the triggers on my 700's for Timney's. If I send one back, they sure won't reinstall the Timney.

I have four 700s and one has a Rifle Basix trigger in it and if I keep the other three I'll put the same in them. It's night and day with regards to the Rifle Basix trigger and the factory ones. I can't see going to the trouble of sending them in just to get back the same or worse trigger. I also understood you have to remove scopes too to send them in and then have to sight them back in again. No thanks.
I bet Remington hopes a lot will feel as I do and save a lot of money for them.

I have a Remington 40-XB with what I presume is a Mike Walker trigger subject to the possibilities alluded to in the lawsuit(s?). It would be nice to have a setup with a safer safety, but what the heck, it's mostly a target rifle, and regardless of what it is, it has to be handled with due regard for the facts of life. I'm not getting mine messed with, because I don't trust Remington to handle my wooden pillar-bedded stock correctly, and I don't have a problem with my VERY nice trigger, other than the proper handling procedure dictated by the characteristics of the trigger. I have a hang tag on my rifle which says the following:

WARNING: This Remington 40-XB rifle uses a trigger
assembly designed for TARGET USE ONLY. Under
certain circumstances, this rifle may discharge when being
loaded or unloaded. It may discharge upon opening or
closing the bolt, upon setting or releasing the safety, or even
upon pulling the trigger. The rifle must always be oriented
with the possibility of UNEXPECTED DISCHARGE in
mind. Constant safe orientation is likely only at a formal target
range. If you don't understand the above, or even just disagree
with it, KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF OF THIS RIFLE.

P.S. Many rifle safeties **** big ****** *****. One would be well advised to plan around that fact.

I have a 700 Police that was made in 2003. It is not subject to the recall. I checked the serial number on their Remington site and it gave me a code for 20% off on accessories at their online sales sites.

Check your serial number at http://xmprecall.remington.com

Ivan The butcher the trigger felt about like it did when I sent it in, it felt fine to me. Mine was bought second hand in july 1976 and the owner said it had not been shot much but it had a lot of miles in a pickup rack and it had a shinny spot where the blue was rubbed off, I told the guy no problem I will touch it up with cold blue, it would not touch it, it was stainless and had been plated and the plating wore through, it is a 7mm rem mag. The trigger suited me. Jeff
