Default My Annual Fourth of July Message

I saw this on a billboard many years ago:

He who goes forth on the Fourth with a fifth may not go forth on the 5th.

Be safe, everybody; and if you drink, please don't drive.

"If you get on the whiskey, let somebody else drive..."

Can't remember the country artist who did the song with that line. I thought, the first time I heard it, that it should be in heavy rotation on stations that play country before, and during, every major holiday.

I haven't gone anywhere more than a few miles away on Memorial Day, the Fourth, or Labor Day for years. Too much ethanol percolating through too many sun-baked brains out there, and I've had too many close calls with drunk drivers.

Travel safely, folks, and watch for those who aren't.

Memorial Day, Labor Day, St. Patrick's, Cinco de Mayo, New Year's Eve and July 4th are AMATEUR NIGHTS. I don't go anywhere.

Same here. Fortunately my work schedule is very flexible so I can leave town when I want to. Therefore I stay off the road on holiday weekends. For those of you that do travel over the holiday...drive safe and watch out for the idiots.

We sober drunks call them that too.

Here in Louisville we include Derby Eve and the evening following the race. It gets awfully inebriated out there.

The farthest I plan of going on the 4th, is about two blocks from the house to use WiFi at Dairy Queen.
