Default Our National Parks!

Took a scenic drive through Rocky Mountain National Park this morning. The beauty, glory, and majesty of this country is a powerful drug. Heard lots of foreign languages being spoken at the pull overs. Just another reason that we are the envy of the world.

Not just parks, but USFS and BLM land need to stay in the public domain. There is not enough money to compensate the public for the loss of these lands.

One of the finest legacies Theodore Roosevelt left us.

We must preserve them as the property of all Americans.

All sounds good what with keeping then in the" public" domain....except they no longer belong to us the public. Those lands belong to the gummit. Designation was changed by Clinton. There is discovered reserves of oil on gummit lands here in Wy that the gummit will not allow drilling on. more than 200 yrs of recoverable oil and the gummit requires buying oil from the Saudi's. The Forest Service blocks use of our lands here constantly. We no longer have rights to "our" lands. The only reason they have drilled oil in the Bakken field in N Dakota is because it is private land. Same oil field in Montana is blocked from Drilling. Government land ya know! Not just the oil..access is limited by gummit people to what what was once considered public land all over the west. It's not just about money... it's about control.

We live a few miles from the Cuyahoga National Park and visit it many times a month. I, for one, am glad it is land that will never be developed or mined.

Public land is our legacy to our children. Let's not destroy it for short term gains that will leave future generations bankrupt. Wilderness is necessary.

I love Yellowstone myself, and the Tetons aren't too shabby. Then there's the Badlands and....... well.

Some of the best municipal golf courses I have ever played. That was a long time ago. Don't know what they are like today.

I grew up in the area and couldn't agree more, although most of the public courses were State and Local parks (Cleveland Metroparks and Ohio State parks were AWESOME). The Cuyahoga National Park is much more recent.

I was thinking that I never saw any BLM folks out in the field.
Actually I have. It was down at Ft.Cummins, a Civil War- Indian War fort between Hatch and Deming, NM.
It was three recreation-planning guys in a Gov Jeep.
They were working on the Possibility of a Butterfield Stage historic route.
They asked me if I had any lunch with me.
I said I did, but I'm making a run for Hatch.
To the Pepper Pot. If you go to Hatch, I recommend that you go to the Pepper Pot.

America's greatest treasure is the National Parks. Followed by the BLM and National Forest lands. This southern redneck never tires of seeing any of them, especially if its west of the Big Muddy.

Love it when I return from hunting "out west" and some dude says "Did you hire a guide"? I answer "Nope" then they ask " whose land did you hunt upon?" I say "mine". They get this funny look and ask how much land I own "out west". I tell them more that I can hunt over in a day, its all National Forest and BLM and I have an undivided interest that no one has more interest that me, then just laugh. We can never let the government trade off the ownership, yep the oil and grazing rights are a step to far in my opinion, and its on my land.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out next Feb. when I'm in Hatch. I'm always looking for a good Mex. restaurant. I get all of my chile in Hatch when I'm there. Hatch Chile Sales is a good stop.

Well, I'm back. Evidently, I said something wrong and got a "time-out".

Anyway, thanks for the 5 likes I got on the deleted posts.

I'll be good, Mommy!
