Default A pleasant surprise

Ok. So I bought a Rossi 92 in 357 mag from Buds on a whim. I started second guessing myself after reading all the horror stories online and nearly canceled my order. However it arrived yesterday and HOLY SMOKES!!

It's awesome. Now the wood isn't great but it is fit perfectly to the gun. Only one tiny spot near the barrel band where it protrudes 1-16th of an inch. Almost negligible. The bluing is deep and prefect. There are zero gaps in the wood/metal contact surfaces. The action is slick enough to work with my pinky. It has a slight bind at closing because one lug is slightly less polished (easy fix). The trigger has zero creep and breaks cleanly at 3.8 pounds. I haven't shot it yet (broke my leg the other day). The feed gate seems to open and close easily. Few visible machining marks inside but nothing I can't polish out. Absolutely worth the $479 I paid for it. Hope it shoots as good as it feels

Nice....I have been on the fence about one of these. I have read lots of reviews both ways. Give us a range report when that leg gets better.

While I am not a Rossi fan, I have read some good reviews of that particular rifle. Good luck with it. I hope it shoots as well as it looks upon early inspection.

I've got an older one. A Winchester it ain't, but I also didn't pay for a Winchester. It's an accurate and very fun rifle. I intend to keep mine. I hope you like yours as much.

Mine won't feed wadcutters. Your mileage may vary. Everything else I've tried works great.

I've got one in 44 mag. Full sized rifle. Bought to replace a Browning, in the same cal. that I sold a few years back when life was hard and times were tough. Shoots well. Not as smooth as the Browning but works OK. Fit and finish are about as good as anything on the market these days that isn't many times more expensive. GB

Mine was "stiff" out of the box. Had a cowboy gunsmith slick it up. Slicking up Rossi .357 lever guns has become a cottage industry.
Runs well now, though I have had to work on ejector spring recently. For the price, it's a good value, even with the cost of the initial smithing.
It's a fun gun to shoot.

I've got a Rossi manufactured 92 made for EMF, saddle ring carbine in .38/357 with color case hardened finish. Extra nice fit and finish and it's been absolutely trouble free. Handles like a .22 LR on steriods with .38's, but shoots like a real rifle with .357 rounds.

I replaced the ugly bolt safety with a plug from Steve's Gunz, as well as the synthetic magazine follower with a metal one. I've taken a couple of whitetail deer and a few coyotes with it.
