OK so I finally got a flu shot
Duck season started 10/24 and I hunted opening weekend. Then I came down with the crud and did not feel like going hunting. I finally saw the light and decided to get a flu shot. The last one I got was when I was in the Army in 1969 and i almost died from it. I swore I would never volunteer for another one. But when it starts interfering with my duck hunting it was time to do something.
I went into the clinic this morning and the first question asked me was you are under 65 right. Wrong. OK fill out this form. One of the questions was have you ever had a serious reaction to a flu shot. I checked the box in the affirmative. When the young lady that was administrating the shot read that she queried me about it. I told her it was in 1969 and her eyes got large and she asked, they had flu shots back then? Anyway she gave me the shot and asked that I stick around for 15 minutes to make sure I did not have a reaction. So far so good

Right. We got them in 1982, too. They said it was a "flue shot", and maybe it was in part, but there was more than one. I wonder what was really in all those inoculations.
BTW, I got my flue shot a couple of weeks ago. Get one most years. No issues or reactions. Got one for pneumonia a year or two ago. That's a new one, and you don't need it every year.

Now, that's funny! These youngsters think we were still wearing animal skins and carrying clubs back then.

I get one every year, however last year I still caught the flu. Got very lucky, as my temperature spiked the night before my semi-annual VA doctor's appt. I actually got a script of Tamiflu and it did cut the time in half.

I got my first on in the late Fall of 1955!!! I "think" that was the first year for flu shots. The guvment used military as guinea pigs!!
It hurt worse than any shot I have ever had. As soon as they stopped being mandatory I QUIT and haven't had one since!!

I don't do flu shots. As much as I'm around other people, especially some folks who don't give a lot of attention to germs, I use as many precautions as possible and have been able to avoid the bug for 10 or 12 years.

I had flu shots for a few years starting in 1948. They were sort of experimental; they hurt and gave me the flu every time. Finally got a shot around 2000; not only it didn't hurt, but it seemed to keep me from getting colds too. I asked the doc about that; he said it also boosted the immune system. I get one every year now. I've also had the pneumonia shot, as I've had pneumonia twice and it's no fun. Probably should get the shingles shot too; my father came down with shingles and he was miserable for several months.

Just when "they" come out and admit that the shots available this fall will likely be INEFFECTIVE against the common strain(s) making the rounds!
Oh well.
It was free...right?
P.S.
Never had one...yet!

Ditto on all of that. Got the flu shot the last 2 years, and after having pneumonia 2 years I a row, I got that shot last year too. Must've worked - I never got the flu or pneumonia last year. I'm thinking I need to go get them both this year too.
I've been really thinking about getting the shingles shot after seeing the commercials. I had the chicken pox as a kid and don't want to go through what I've heard others have experienced with shingles.
