Canned Chili Question
Has anyone tried the new improved Wolf Brand canned chili. What did you think about it? Eatable?

Now I have eaten canned Chili.
I Like the older Wolf, have not tried the new model.
I like the Bush in a jar.
Just googled it, Bush chili is now in a can.
And it's no-bean chili.
Interesting, since Bush's is about the finest bean company on the planet!
They even can Purple Hull Peas for us country boys.
Thanks Jay!

Never seen Bush chilli. Have to check Krogers. Kroger brand no bean is good to my taste buds. Had some on fresh tamales yesterday.

I recently tried some. Opened the can and the chili now has a fake sick looking orange color and I don't think it tastes as good. Salsa Verde couldn't fix this fiasco.

Try Campbell's Spicey Chili. I think it's pretty good and very meaty despite having beans which I happen to like in a chili.
I think originally, way back....way way back, the chili was a beef stew but the beans of various kinds were served on the side. Since it all ends up in the same place, why not just add them to the meaty chili right away? The tastes complement each other.

For chili from a can I like Wolf. Needs some Cholula added. Why do they have to improve stuff? Never works out.

I never eat Wolf brand chili in a bowl, but only use it for chili dogs or chili cheese burgers. It doesn't have enough body for me to just eat a bowl whether it's regular, new and improved, or the lean meat version.

I wasn't aware of a change.
I ONLY eat chili with beans. There used to be a Big Lots up the road which had great deals on Wolf, but they closed. The only place I know for sure that has Wolf now is Giant Eagle, and they ONLY have the chili w/o beans, which I simply won't buy. They've got Hormel w/beans, but I'd eat camel dung before I ate Hormel chili. It's simply VILE.
I might try Heinen's to see if they've got Wolf with beans. Somehow I suspect that Whole Foods won't have it...

I use a couple of drops of Dave's Insanity Ghost Pepper, plus a generous helping of black pepper.

I tried it and it couldn't hold a candle to Wolf w/beans, at least the stuff I used to get.

It takes a braver man than me to eat chili from a can. No thank you. Good luck with that.

I always considered anything in a can to be merely survival food for single people that haven't learned to cook yet.Great taste wasn't always that important.
Yes,I was one of those people not that long ago.

My BIL eats chili from a can, I tried it once, one spoon full and I spit it out, the garbage disposal didn't seem to mind, then again it will eat anything, so will my BIL.

I had never willingly eaten chili from a can (we always made it in a dutch oven on the wash pot fire). Beans in chili? NO!! If I wanted beans, I would cook beans.
But I tried some Wolf and Hormel a few months ago. I'm not able to cook as much as I once did, and have to be careful with the stove. Both wound up in the trash. Don't waste your money.

You guys have got me thinking about making a pot of my HOMEMADE chili today........three types of meat ( stew/soup beef, hot or Italian sausage and lean ground beef) and two types of beans (red and black)...... in a zesty sauce full of chunks/diced tomatoes..........................

It's a marketing ploy. They will return with "classic" wolf at a later date.

I tried Wolf chili recently. For something out of a can, it was acceptable. For a quick meal, with hot sauce and plenty of crackers, it is passable.
I know I can make better chili myself. For that matter, I can make better soup than anything that comes in a can. But sometimes you just want the convenience. If others would rather starve than eat it, that's their choice.

Some of us are lousy cooks and wouldn't waste our time making Chili from scratch. I'd no more do that than I'd build a car from parts.

The only way that I'll eat Wolf Brand is in Frito Pie with cheddar cheese and diced onion. I'll have a bowl of it about every two or three months.

It's weird. I see Armour corned beef hash (good) around here, but not chili.

I've never found any canned chili to be very good. It's hard to beat a good bowl of Texas Red made from scratch with venison or elk and sausage, but Wick Fowler in a box is pretty good. Use all the ingredients and add additional chili for a little extra kick. I like it with cornbread and a bowl of pinto beans.

Usually because they found a way to make it cheaper and can make more money off of it.

That has limits... which can be quite expensive to find.

I don't normally eat chili, but when I do, I prefer ACME. Stay downwind, my friend.

Now THAT sounds like chili! And personally I don't like chili a lot but just might have to make a pot.

I'm with you on that one. Canned chili is for hot dogs. Eating chili is made in a big pot.

Hormel with beans, right out of the can beats not having any.
I like homemade chili with beans when I have time and ingredients on hand.
Chili WITH NO BEANS is for HOTDOGS, Homemade or Canned. JMHO!
