Default Australian Police officer shot

I recently found this item on another forum. It is chilling in its scope. In Australia, a 15 year old, radicalised Muslim killed a Police worker by shooting him in the head as the officer came out of a police station. It appears that there have been numerous attempts/threats by Islamists against the police (the targets of choice). The local news reports that police and government defense forces are ordered not to wear uniform on the way to work. Police in Queensland Australia, have asked to carry their weapons home for self defense, per the OP, and this has been refused by senior police under instruction from the state government. I have not researched for additional info. Thoughts for an open discussion, my friends?

The attached link is to the news story. (Mods - if this is the incorrect location, please relocate with my apologies.)

Sounds familiar.

After numerous threats, a unarmed soldier doing ceremonial duty outside the Canadian parliament buildings was murdered by a radicalized individual. The soldiers asked for the means to protect themselves.

At the same time, after several credible threats against the police, they requested to be allowed to carry their issued sidearms off duty. (A policy allowed for, but rarely allowed and only on a case by case basis.)

The government responded by ordering the soldiers not to wear their uniforms when off the base, refused the police until a more credible threat was identified, and posted armed guards inside the parliament buildings.

Problem solved.

According to one source there's nothing to fear, it's just..... "widows and three-year-old orphans."

Man up.

Can not fix stupid.

Government Officials always protect themselves with armed guards , but tell everyone else " Ah you don't need a gun , its safe out there. Right.....

Yessir. Most high profile anti-gun celebrities and politicians who tell you that you don't need a gun for self defense are standing behind a row of armed body guards - or worse yet - taxpayer paid Secret Service agents. THEY don't need to carry guns themselves - because they have armed people protecting them. You, on the other hand, but you don't need any protection. Unlike them, you and your family aren't important enough to warrant protection.

Sickening. Of course the Quenslanders asked to remain armed, of course Canberra told Brisbane "No".

Be careful not to muddy the water around us, we may have to drink it soon.
