At the very edge of the Vegas city limits, there's miles of open BLM desert. Coyotes, jack rabbits & hawks are often seen...and we're always on the lookout for those critters sporting rattlers.
I shoot there with a friend..we keep folding chairs and targets stashed in some bushes. Peaceful it is. About once a week we go.

Pretty lucky to be able to shoot off my deck and in the back yard.

Sometimes I shoot at the Fort Bliss Rod & Gun Club, now the Gun and Bow club.

Photo 4: Me shooting on one of the northern ranges. I was shooting in the Internet Snubby Match.
Photo 5: Sometimes I find a place to shoot indoors. The pistol is a Mauser Schnellfeuer. Picture not taken in the US.

Give me some time to locate.....

I've got to find and get a screenshot of a video I took at "Boggy Head Rifle Range" after a 3 day rainstorm. It's got a big berm, but it was created by bulldozing the range itself in front of the berm, not from behind, which creates a slightly 'low' place in the National Forest. The first 50 yards were, well, "boggy" so I just set the target shooting 6" 686 at the 100 yard berm because you could get to it without walking through the mud.

These days I do just about all of my shooting in my own backyard.
I don't normally take pics of the backyard but I spotted this little guy
out there a took a pic from my bedroom window. To my great surprise
he spotted me at the window and walked right up to take a close look.
When he came up close was when I saw the little knobs on his head.

This is my handgun range that's right off of my driveway. It takes me about 2 minutes to walk there... on a slow day. I can hang steel or use paper targets. The white with grey target is a large sheet of plastic with duct tape used for almost torso sized targets. Once there are holes, jut cover them with more tape.

I also have steel hanging off to the side in the woods.

I currently have it measured out to 80 ft and have added a light and moveable table for my bag / ammo / whatever else.

Put in a 25 yard pistol range behind our cottage a few years ago, backfilled with logs after this picture was taken...

The board in front is slotted to hold furring strips for IPSC style targets. More recently I've added another smaller backstop at 60 yards (the limit I have available) and added a variety of steel.

SCDNR - State Gun Range, Pickens SC

Coming from New York City, where everything costs, the completely free DNR range near my new home in SC, was a shock.

It is staffed full time by a no-nonsense DNR Lieutenant. Features 4 ranges for Clays, Rifle, Pistol, and Archery. Offers free use of Clay Throwers, Lead Sled Gun Rests, and Spotting Scopes.

I don't have any pics, but someone posted a Youtube video of the gun ranges. It features guns, a pretty blonde gal and a cameo by a CH-47 Chinook.
