One of the great Colt SAA gunsmiths, and maker of ivory stocks, Jim Alaimo of Nutmeg Sports, passed away. Here's a link to Nutmeg Sports, and the announcement. I had the pleasure of dealing with Jim early last year when I bought a set of custom ivory stocks for my 1911 Colt Gold Cup. A great man. He will be missed.

Rest in peace.

Maybe 15 years ago he would come to our gun shows. During that period we were lucky enough to have him set up directly across the aisle from us. I agree with everything said so far. He was a fun guy and not shy about sharing advice and knowledge. I did not know what made him stop coming, but it might have been a health problem even back then. Or as simple as not wanting to travel.

Sad news. Jim did a pair of USFA SAA's for me several years back. Action jobs and fitted Ivory stocks for me too. Beautiful workmanship. What a loss.

Received grips for SAA and 1911 from Jim.... Fine fella to deal with for sure.... His passing is a loss indeed..

I bought several things from this gentleman through the years. Oftentimes over the phone on items costing very little; as opposed to a set of ivories, or other more expensive stuff.
He would take as much time to get a 20 dollar purchase correct as he would a 2 thousand dollar one.

A great source for special guns lost. Sorry to hear it.
