Teddy Roosevelt because he was America's first conservationist / hunter president.

It's good to see we still have a traditional holiday to honor our past Presidents

Especially if you need a New Mattress or a Washing machine!

George Washington. The holiday is still officially in honor of his birthday, as it should be.

Actually President's day is about a day at the office catching up on stuff without having every jack-leg judge and his brother calling me up to come to court to "take care of this little thing that just came up" which usually shoots half the day.

I'm with Pat. If I could grab a rifle (like one of his 6.5x54MS's) and spend a week in the bush with a former president, it would be T.R.

The grandkids are home today so the holiday does have it's downside.

Lincoln. He had the stones to change a law that he knew as just plain wrong and took incredible heat for it.

I have to vote for the first POTUS, John Hancock. Elected under the Articles of Confederation in 1776. I think he served 3 nonconsecutive one year terms including being the POTUS just before George Washington. He served with a big price on his head as Executive as well as a Continental Congressman. I don't think he ever got paid either!

Andrew Jackson. Helped the "Common Man" get a voice in government, fought the National Bank, and fought a duel to defend his wife's honor. A real man....

My favorite President? Ronald Reagan, hands down.

I will never forget listening to the news on the radio and hearing him issue the challenge: "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" Still sends chills up my spine just thinking about it...

That was good, but more than a bit theatrical. When he addressed Parliament and called the USSR "...the focus of evil in the modern world," and then said they would be left "...on the ash heap of history" I think everyone sat up and took notice.

I think I should just put this on my truck this year and engage in heavy wishful thinking.
