Wrangler jeans
Does anyone remember getting a rodeo comic book when you bought Wrangler jeans in the 1960's? They were about 4" x 8" and stapled on the 4" side. They were attached to a belt loop with a string. My wife thinks I'm losing it (no argument there!) but I have a clear recollection of reading stories about bull riders and bronc busters. Anyone else remember these?

Heck yeah! Actually, they even did it in the 70's and early 80's, too. I also remember the time when they threw in a free Wrangler rodeo duffle bag, along with the comic book, when you bought two pairs of Wranglers.
Nothing like Wranglers. I've been wearin' them for a good fifty years at least. You can still find them on sale every so often for about twenty bucks...and made in the good ol' USA, too.
Remember what they say..."Wrangler butts drive gals nuts!" At least that's what my wife of 43 years tells me.

I got spoiled wearing Duluth Trading with the no ouch crouch. Wranglers are my second choice, I can find them for about $24.00 most of the time.

Wear them everyday unless somebody dies or gets married, same difference. That's over 50 yrs, don't remember comic books
maybe they were on kids sizes. When my old man was still providing my garments, I didn't get to pick out "designer" jeans.
I got Roebuckers, mail order from Sears. They didn't come with
comic books, but they made up for it with cuffs that came half
way to your knees.

Wranglers forever......Levis never. Levis is kind of an anti gun outfit outta San Francisco. Would never knowingly do business with gun bashers.

Wranglers, and they make them in camo! What a concept, same fit as your everyday kick around pants.

I've been wearing wranglers for 60 years. Although I used to wear the tight *** slim leg style, I graduated to carpenter jeans both due to occupation and the extra 50 pounds that somehow mysteriously appeared one day.
Don't remember the comic books, may have been a regional thing, but have seen the pocket material go from thick canvas to some cheap tissue paper material. I carry two sets of keys and usually have more coins than the mint. Usually after about 10 washings and wearings, the keys begin to find there way through to my leg.
Other than that, they have stayed the same since I was knee high to a duck.

Thanks for the replies guys. I don't know if it was a regional thing or not. This was in the extreme western tip of Virginia. It could be that they were only on kids jeans. My Dad only wore bib overalls so I never saw adult jeans. I still wear Wranglers. They fit well and you can get them at a good price. Have never worn Levi's for the reasons mentioned above.

I wore Double LL jeans from LL Bean for nearly 30 years. but they have decided they are worth more than I'm willing to spend so I buy them infrequently these days. I do like the fit and the wearability though.
Now I usually buy the jeans from Cabelas on sale. They are pretty close to the LL Bean stuff and much cheaper.

I grew up, working in my dad's clothing store, in West Tennessee.
Our Levis, in the 50's, were so tough, I don't think a bullet would penetrate them.
You had to wash them three times, or so, before they fabric would be soft enough, to wear. Well, not soft, but not like steel.
Most of you probably don't know, that Levis started in the California gold fields, when a guy started making them out of tent canvas. The real stuff.
Levis aren't what they used to be, now soft, and thin. Can't afford them anymore anyway, so wear Wranglers.
You might have caught on, that I am old as all heck............

I remember those comics. Every kid wanted to wear a pair of Wranglers and be a bronc or bull rider.

My wife was given two pairs of brand new Wranglers at the gym by a lady whose husband couldn't fit into them. His loss, my gain. I bought a pair of Carhart jeans a couple of years ago, relaxed fit and they are quickly becoming my favorites.

I wore Monkey Ward's or Sears jeans when I was a kid, most had the doubled up knee area.Boys played a lot of marbles and tops back then, haha. Fashionable, not much.
When I got about 12 or 13 I saved my money and bought some Levis like my Dad always wore. Something about Levis and me didn't get along and I soon moved to Wranglers. Been wearing 'em ever since, and I do remember the little funny book from way back. They also had Dean Oliver on the advertisements for many years in the 60's and 70's.

Levis just never fit right, Wranglers fit better and cost half. No brainer.

I've been wearing Wranglers since the 1950s, Wrangler "Blue Bell" jeans and I remember the rodeo comics very well. I wear the "cowboy cut" Wranglers because of the fit. I have worn them to funerals and weddings and they are always starched with a crease.

Despite a lot of weekends working in the woods or crawling under the truck, I've never managed to wear out a pair of Wranglers. Past few years, as gravity gets stronger, I've taken to jeans of the "Wild ***" brand, bought from a loggers' supply house. Just as tough as the Duluth, at about half the price. Now, If I can just find a pair with the tool pockets on both legs...
Does anybody on the forum have a sewn-in / sewn-on holster kn their jeans?

Rural King - Real Work Wear jeans are becoming my favorite.
Not too thick, not too thin, and the best part - $8.99/pr.

Graduated from Roebucks to Levis when I found enough little jobs to pay for the between the 8th and 9th grade.
I had a few pairs of Wranglers but preferred Lee's for a long time.
I like Carharts for cutting brush or building fence.
My daughter in law married our son last Oct, her Dad had passed some years ago, her Paternal grandpa was going to walk her down the isle, he contracted a bone C that went pretty quick. I got to know him over the last few years of his life.
He was farm raised but worked sales jobs after the Navy. His brother farmed and he always wanted to get a farm, he could afford it but his wife would not see living on a farm. She passed and it was too late for him to start farming. The love never left him.
I had 2 cows and calves, horses and chickens that would eat out of your hand. My future DIL would bring him out to feed and pet the livestock. He loved it. The 1st time one cow and one horse sniffed his face when we went to the barnyard, He was as excited as a kid with a new puppy.
When he went into hospice he told his granddaughter to give the farm boy his Wranglers, I think I got 10 like new pair. And they are the right size. I'm set for a long time.

Nothing like a pair of well broken in jeans. Back when I first got them they made 3 trips through the washing machine otherwise you ended up with blue jockey shorts. The older ones took sometime to break in but when they wore in they were great. Jeans is what I wear most days and outside of an occasional rip or tear ( they make iron on patches for that) they almost last years. Frank

I don't wear jeans too much these days. When I do it's Wrangler Riggs that have the diamond gusset in the crotch. More often I will wear the Riggs ripstop pants.
There are other brands that have the diamond gusset, but the Riggs are cheap and easy to find around here.

Back in the 50's a new pair of jeans could stand on their own.

If you are slim enough to wear them (34 max) they do make the anatomy look in top form.
At 6'2" I have to say that a boot cut was plain good looking
when broken in...............
and yes , I do remember those comic books in our western gear stores.
