A young lad was orphaned & being raised by distant, elderly relatives. He had few friends & just wandered the small town when not in school.
One day he graduated & grampa & grama sat him down to explain now he was to get a job for self support.
The only place you could call a factory in town was a fuller brush assembly plant. Daily, when they opened in the morning, the kid was there waiting to see the personnel man.
Same question every day for about a month, he asked "got a job for me today?" The same answer every day was "sorry, not today."
The personnel manager got an idea. That morning when the young man showed & asked the same question, he said "yes, I am going to give you a chance to be a tooth brush salesman"
"Here are two dozen tooth brushes, pick a street corner & sell them to the passing people.
Now, listen good, if you can sell them all today, you probably have a real future in sales, if not you will have to find someone else to employ you."
The young man was back in two hours, every one of the brushes were sold!
The personnel agent was amazed to say the least. He said "it appears you have a real calling for sales & you are hired full time as right now, providing you tell me how you sold those brushes so quick."
"Well sir, I went home & made some cookies, set up a stand with a sign that said 'free cookies, try one' when people took a bite, they would spit & exclaim 'that tastes like POO'
He'd say, "yah it is, WANNA BUY A TOOTH BRUSH?"
