My latest cat adventure
I have a little Siamese tom cat named Bud. Last night he got his head stuck in the empty plastic bag from a box of Triscut crackers. He likes to raid the garbage can. He panicked and was literally bouncing off of the walls. I knew from experience that if I were to catch him I would end up being cut to shreds. After about a minute he managed to get the bag off his head. Now he thinks I was responsible for this happening and he will not come near me. I have to admit now that he was not injured that it was pretty funny. I am sure that he will be curled up in my lap before too long.
Years ago we had another cat that raided garbage cans. We had cooked a turkey on the Weber Kettle and we had thrown the turkey soaked strings left over from trussing up the bird in the garbage. My wife called me into the kitchen and the cat had swallowed most of the string with just a little left dangling from her mouth. I held the cat while my wife pulled the string out. In this incident no one was injured. Now when we have turkey soaked string I take it to the outside garbage can. Living with cats can certainly be entertaining.

That's hilarious that he blames you! Sweet-talk the guy, give him a few treats and he'll forget the incident.
I have wild one inside that was once an outside "hunter" and I had to get righteous with him a few times. I don't think he remembers the actual discipline incidents but he knows I'm alpha and he rarely stalks and attacks me. My wife, however.... she's fair game.

Had three, down to one. The little guy's almost like a dog, follows me everywhere. Sit down, he's in my lap. Lay back in the recliner, he moves up to my chest. Sweet as he is, I've never forgotten one cold, hard fact. If he was bigger and I smaller, he'd eat me.

Sounds about right to me! I had a cat named Sam who was for all intents a "pig with fur", a real "chow hound" and also would raid the trash when we weren't looking. One night about 3.30 AM whilst my wife and daughter were in Ohio visiting relatives and was alone in the house I was awakened by the most horrendous sounds out in the living room area. I snatched up my Commander and flashlight and did the "peek" out the bed room door just as Sam came roaring by the door with one of those paper bags with the cord handles stuck around it's neck. After I and cat calmed down I had a good laugh about the both of us. It must have had an effect on Sam, stayed away from the trash for quite awhile after the "incident".

I don't own a cat but I agreed to keep a friend's while they went out of town for Christmas.
Vinnie is an alley cat befriended by my friends: Vinnie has no use for anyone else.
So I turned Vinnie loose from his cat carrier into the guest bedroom. He disappeared under the bed. Last time I actually saw him for 10 days. I knew he was in there because food dissapeared and deposits were left in the cat box.
He also cleared out the upper shelf of the closet, tried to dig his way out of the room through the telephone jack through the wall and excavated a hideout in the box springs.
When it came time to take him back to the friends, I had to employ a Havaheart trap.
Vinnie was the most destructive beast I've ever had the misfortune to host.
Foolishly, I agreed to host him again over spring break. One evening I noticed his bedroom window was open a little and there was a hole in the screen: Vinne had escaped.
I deployed the Havaheart under the window. Over the next week, I trapped 6 neighborhood cats but not Vinnie.
When the friends returned, they spent a day wandering the neighborhood calling 'Vinnie, Vinnie'.
Darned if he didn't peak out from under a neighbor's deck and wander over to the friends to be taken home.
Vinnie isn't invited back to my house. I'll stick with my dogs.

One of my cats goes through this now and then. The last time it was a WalMart bag and all we could do was watch. We could not have caught him and if we did it would have been a trip to the ER for stitches. What we do is just wait for him to either get his head out of the bag/box or knock himself unconscious. So far he has escaped injury but I don't see how. When he hit the wall he is moving at full speed.
I guess it's a cat thing...

Well a couple of days have past and Bud and I are buddy's again. The last tom cat I had I named six pack as he showed up in my back yard about 1/2 grown with a plastic six pack ring stuck around his neck. I trapped him and took him to the vet to have it cut off and to get shots. He never fully tamed down but we lived mostly in harmony. Ever since then I cut the the plastic rings open prior to disposing of them in the trash.

A friend bought a large (18in) white tropical bird for a pet. One day it got loose while he was at work. It chewed the corners off of every wooden thing in the house. Furniture, cabinets, doors, and moldings were all destroyed.
It went back to the pet store.

I remember I lived with this woman once who had two cats. One was just crazy about Spam. Would dig through a whole trash can to get an empty can and then just carry it everywhere. I guess the smell was appealling.

This might sound a little sad, but don't miss the happy ending:
The cat that lived with my ex and I has now moved on to a new home (neither she nor I could keep Roop) in the country. Reports are that the new location and staff are satisfactory, even better than the previous. Cats are adaptable, but they don't cotton to interruption or downgrades of service.
My neighbors have a gray striped character, and he swings by to visit pretty regular, so I still have a conversation partner. We (neighbors cat and I) have coffee (actually he has a lizard) most mornings.

I had a cat named "Felon", and she loved olives. I would give her one and it was like giving her cat nip. She would roll.around on it like a dog on a dead fish. She would get all crazy and run all over the house ricocheting off of the furniture and me. She would eventually calm down and eat the olive and then spit out the little red part. I guess she was trying to tell me she wanted a martini.
