Thwarted again.
I had planned on a nice long hike today but on the way to the trailhead, I stopped at the Post Office to pick up my mail and there was a letter that I knew I would havta make phone calls for. It was from a financial institution that Lisa set up under both our names that I've been working with to get put under my name so I can access it. So I decided to take a shorter hike, get home earlier and make the calls.
I got home, got comfortable, set up Lisa's standing desk and spread out the paperwork I thought I'd havta reference. Just turned out that it was a letter automatically sent out by corporate and that everything was fine.
Turns out that it took longer to dig through my files and set stuff up than the actual phone call.
At about this time, I kinda felt like a cigar in the sun. After that was done I got my carbs and protein for tomorrow's trip to the gym.
I got to thinking that it seems like some kind of force is keeping me from overdoing it.....

Happy that this was easy for you. Our CU took care of wife’s accounts in less than 5 minutes. We were POD on each account.

It’s ok Wayne, when you’ve been at it for a long time as you have, one day is not going to break you.

One thing that happened at the gym today that made me glad that I always use safeties at the bench press.
I was doing a warm up set with 115 pounds and the bar slipped. It landed on the safeties instead of my chest and I was able to just skooch out from under it and rerack it.
It was later that I realized that I had just curled 115 pounds to rerack.

Another beautiful hot sunny day. Just right for another hike in the mountains.
Dunno how far I went but it was just a bit over two hours.
Tomorrow, it's off to the gym to find out if I reduced my bodyfat since my last assessment in January.
Then I was 168 pounds and 14.9% bodyfat.
This morning I weighed 158.2 pounds.

Had my fitness reassessment done today. Didn't quite reach my goal of 10% bodyfat. Got close though at 11.9% and my physique rating as "thin and muscular."
Still that puts me in the lean category for a male less than half my age.
I'm thinking of keep doing what I'm doing and see where it goes.
We'll see where I'm at on my next reassessment.

Went for a hike today at our favorite trail.
On a Saturdays the parking lot's usually packed and I havta park at the top of the ridge. Today however, there was plenty of room.
Not sure why but I was fine with it.
I ended up going 5.87 miles in 2 hours and 28 minutes.
There was a light shower as I was heading back to the trail head, kinda refreshing.

Yesterday, I made a trip to Cumberland MD to deal with yet another financial institution Lisa has accounts at.
Even though I had all the paperwork that they said I'd need, I still didn't know how long it'd take so, I got up early and went for a nice morning hike.
I went 4.18 miles in 1 hour and 42 minutes and it got up to 90 sunny degrees.
Turns out all I had to do was just drop the paperwork off and they said that they'd get in touch with me in a coupla days.
I did some grocery shopping while I was there.
Today was a gym day and I felt pretty good. I ended up doing some extra reps and a few drop sets.
Since I got to the gym early, I had time for another hike today. I didn't bring my Garmin watch but I know that today's hike is 'bout 5 miles.
The next coupla days are gonna be road trip days.
I'm planning on another hike on Sunday and looking forward to another gym day on Monday.

Pretty good day today.
Felt great at the gym and got a pretty good workout. When I got home, I strapped on my boots and went for a quick hike.
I ended up going 4.60 miles in 1 hour and 50 minutes.
It got up to 92 degrees and when I was at the far end of the trail, it started to cloud up and I could hear some thunder.
I thought I was gonna get rained on but the sky cleared, the sun came out and I made my way back to the trail head.

Got out kinda early and went for a hike.
I intended to go a bit further and went 6.41 miles in 2 hours and 50 minutes.
It got up to 92 sunny degrees.
Strange thing is that usually at this time, on a week day, there's rarely anybody else on the trail.
Today though, there were families out hiking the trails.
It was actually nice to see others out enjoying the trails.

I'm recording and watching the Olympics on my dvr and actually managed to get myself outside to go for a hike today.
When I started out it was nice warm and sunny with temps getting up to 94 humid degrees.
As I got further down the trail, it clouded up and looked like rain but that cleared up and it got sunny again. Then it started to rain while the sun was shining.
Actually felt pretty good.
I ended up going 5.16 miles in 2 hours and 21 minutes.
I got home, got a shower, cooked some rice and chicken for supper and went back to watching the Olympics.
Off to the gym tomorrow.

Yesterday I managed to get out on my Mountain Bike and did a short ride of 8+ miles. I am trying to get used to riding a Mountain Bike again as I mostly did road biking 100% of the time. I bought myself a new MTB earlier this year and it does ride a bit different.

I ride my mountain bike on the C&O Canal Towpath. They've resurfaced it out here and it a really nice hardpacked surface.

I had a pretty good gym day today and that got me thinkin',
I'm actually pretty happy where I'm at as far as fitness goes.
'Specially when I take into consideration my degenerative peripheral motor nerve condition and that I'm over 60.
I feel pretty good and I'm able to keep my bodyfat in the low double digits.
That helps with my mobility with a gimpy leg.
Anyway, I'm planning to take me and my gimpy leg out and go for a nice long hike tomorrow.

Had a really good gym day on Monday. Felt great and was tempted to push further and overdo it but I didn't...yet. We'll see how I feel on my next gym visit on Thursday.
Today I went for a nice bike ride and ended up going 17.43 miles in 1 hour and 56 minutes.

Guess I’m very fortunate. Cardiologist gave me an almost clean bill of health today. Change in diet and more exercise is whats needed, guess I’ll get some type of bicycle as my hip hurts from walking very much?

Riding a bicycle's a great way to get some exercise.
Now that the weather's cooling down a bit, I plan on getting my bike out more and getting lotsa riding done.
Eating a healthy clean diet is always a good idea.

I felt so good on my last workout on Monday, I wondered how today's trip to the gym would go.
Turns out it went great.
It seemed like somebody turned the gravity down and I ended up increasing my workout weights on almost every workout.
The two I didn't increase was the weighted crunch machine and the overhead triceps extensions.
The weighted crunch machine because I'm doing the rack already and the overhead triceps extensions because that's my last exercise and by then my triceps are pretty much wasted.
We'll see how the next workout on Monday goes.
Was today just a fluke or will Monday's workout go just as well?

I’m falling apart. Left knee needs replacing and now my right hip that was replaced in 2016 is hurting when walking. Thanks to lame spine surgery last year have neuropathy in left arm and seems to be getting weaker….

The value of weight and strength training is on the rise.

As strength training grows, Peloton and Planet Fitness shift focus

Dunno what it is but I felt great during yesterdays workout. I even increased workout weights again.
Today, I went for a bike ride and ended up going 21.13 miles in 2 hours and 33 minutes. According to my Garmin watch, I burned 670 calories. I actually felt like going further but I had to get home and prepare for a road trip.
It'll be interesting to see if this trend continues on Monday.
The weather next week in looking really good for lotsa hiking.

I went for a hike today and ended up going 5.88 miles in 2 hours and 44 minutes. It got up to 92 sunny degrees on the trail. Afterwards it was a cigar in the sun.
I'm thinking of going for another hike tomorrow. There's a heat advisory between 1 and 7. I figure that if I hit the trail at around 1 I should be out during the hottest part of the day. I'll see if I can break 6 miles.
Thursday's a gym day and I'm planning a bike ride on Friday.

I decided to hike our usual trail. I was missing Lisa so I figured I could hike our favorite trail and have a talk with Lisa.
Afterwards, I went to a local resort. I had intended to just get some sauna time and go home but since it was a weekend and a holiday weekend there were some people I knew there and we talked for a while.
I kinda liked being sociable for a while.
The weather tomorrow's looking good for a nice bike ride.

After being away from the gym for 4 days I was kinda wondering what today's gym day would be like.
Apparently, somebody turned the gravity up a bit over the weekend.
I was lifting the same weight for the same amount of reps but it seemed a bit more difficult.
It'll be interesting to see if I wake up with sore muscles tomorrow.
I'm thinking of going for a bike ride.
Maybe a hike.
