Default New car purchase

There’s been a lot of threads lately about the horrors of buying a new vehicle. My wife seems to get the itch about every three yrs. She really likes the new Broncos. Well, in typical western NY fashion it was gray and rainy Sunday. She was looking around online and found a Bronco she loved. So we drove to Niagara Falls to look at it. For some reason it was unlocked so we could really look at it. My instructions were clear. Go back Monday morning. Test drive and make a deal. I went Monday at 9:30. By 11 I walked out $1000 apart on price. I told them it’s Monday and it’s the end of the month. Let me know if you change your mind. They came around and we bought it yesterday (Tuesday). It’s a left over 2023 with the 330hp twin turbo V6. Bought it $11,000 under sticker. My point is, if you take your time and embrace the process it doesn’t have to be as stressful as people make it out to be. I didn’t wake up Sunday morning thinking I was buying a new vehicle. But..,,,,,,,,,,,,

Very nice, congratulations. Our son and his wife recently got the same color Bronco too, it is sweet. Personally, I prefer the 2 door like yours, but he's got a baby so they needed the 4 doors.

$11,000 below sticker is great! A year and a half ago my daughter and I went shopping for a new Hyundai Tuscon for her and Covid was still haunting the car industry and we went to all the Hyundai dealers in OKC and most of them were wanting about $8,000 ABOVE sticker price! I was exhausted at the end of the day but we finally got one for about 34 grand that was only a thousand or two above sticker. My little girl was happy so I was happy but I would never again buy a car above sticker price.

FARMER, those were weird times. If you hit it right with certain vehicles you could get 0% for 7 yrs and big discounts. Then all of a sudden it was sticker or above. But if your little girl is happy that’s what matters. Nobody wants to over pay. But sometimes you just bite the bullet. Pay once, cry once.

You're paying one way or another. Other than on paper, there is really no such thing as "0%" financing for seven years or even one year.

The temporary Low financing rates are typically from the manufacturer and doesn't affect the dealer or the pricing it just helps him and the manufacturer sell more cars. I bought my 2018 Ram for $9K below sticker and could have paid cash but Chrysler financing was 1.9% and the good stock market investments were getting 20% on my money at that time so it was a no brainer to use the financing.

Things are crazy right now, we always advocate buying 2 years old for the depreciation, but my son was able to buy the Sasquach edition off the lot new for less than they're going for used! That's nuts.

Agreed that the 2 door is the one I would go with. Looks sharp!

Guess you read my new car buying posts..... LOL!! I HATE buying a new car since my good friend retired as General Mgr. of the Dealership where we used to live - he always treated me right. Now I am in the same boat as everyone else and subject to the whole jerk-around routine by the Dealer's. I made the best deal I could over a two day period. I have zero patience to squeeze another hundred or two out if it takes me another 3-4 days to do it - my time and my sanity is more valuable. What bothers me to to no end is the games they and we have to play just to buy one!!

Another important factor is my wife was carless at the time of the new purchase. I traded in her Buick LaCrosse (got a good deal I could not turn down) and either I would have had to chauffeur her around to all her weekly shopping spots, errands, etc. or would have had to rent her a car. Getting a new vehicle sooner than later was probably less expensive in the long run. Certainly easier on me - lol!

You are right chief, it’s a game. Their job is to extract as much money from you as they can. Your job is to give them as little as possible. I enjoy the dance. What I don’t like is dishonesty!!!!!! I’ve caught more than one dealer straight up lying to me.

Farmer, this topic also comes up. There are some who believe manufacturers don’t offer low or no interest to move product and keep inventory flowing. As you stated, it has nothing to do with what you pay dealer or what dealer pays manufacturer. Although dealer will try to use it as a selling point in lieu of mark down.

I love the dance, too. It's the best when you see that little bead of sweat on their brow.

Yes, it’s a real 4x4. Hi Lo and 2WD. Different drive modes which Ford refers to as GOAT MODES. Eco, Sport, mud, and a 4th which I forget. Basically they change the shift points in tranny. Lots of ground clearance with the 33” tires. Drive line is tucked up out of the way.

I was a Toyota car salesman in Las Vegas back in the mid-90s.
It is better to wait until the end of the month to make deals as
the dealers want to make their quotas and are more willing to
make a deal on a new vehicle.
