Just heard on the news, Nashville Based Logan's Roadhouse (now owned by Cracker Barrel) has filed for bankruptcy. Closing at least 18 of thier 256 restaurants around the country, to start with. The CEO has resigned.

For causal dining restaurant, I like it. Nothing fancy, but always pretty good food and OK service. At least in my area. But I would hope so, being that Nashville is its corporate headquarters. But if they close all of em in my area, I won't loose any sleep over it!!

I sure would've liked to have the CEO's salary, for the last few years? And no telling what kind of pension and benefits package he'll be taking with him? Even after resigning?

Oh well, there's always Taco Bell's flat bread steak sandwich, if I'm in the mood for steak! Yuck! That's just plain nasty.

We go to one local to us and are happy with it, but on the flipside, that is a competitive market. If not Logan's, there's Outback and Longhorn. Then all the other casual dining places that you can get a reasonable steak at too.

Never heard of it but I've been to a lot of corporate restaurants and I never ate or drank anything to make me want to go back. There are plenty of good local places

I actually like Outback better than most. I DO NOT like Chilii's. And we have a Applebee's just two miles from the house. And we like it ok. But every time we go, the menu has changed. You get used somethings you like. Poof, it's gone or the price went up. And I agree it is a very competitive market. We did have a Ryan's close by, but it didn't last long. It so crouded we hated goiin and on Sunday, there was a two hour wait. Then it just got nasty. I guess the franchise owners just milked the profits and didn't keep up the building! Same thing with our Ponderosa, it started off like a bang, but food kept getting worse and the servers were rude and the service was horrible.

But really never had a issue with Logan's.

There was a Logan's near me when I lived in OKC. If they do go under it's no great loss. I don't remember ever being impressed with the food...

I LOVE Texas Roadhouse

We have a Logan's in El Paso and I eat there fairly often. But my daughter gave me a gift card for Texas Roadhouse and I had supper there today. I think my days of going to Logans are over.

Their ribs are the best! We sometimes go about 30 miles to our closest one and we each get a full rack of ribs, eat half there and bring the other half home and eat em later that night. And I ask for some take home rolls. And I make lil rib meat sliders.

I'd like to try out their steaks, but every time we go their I say I'm going to try their steak or something else. When we pull in the parking, I smell the ribs. And never order anything else.

And I also LOVE their sweet baked potato and the side salad.

I'm glad there's not one close. If eat there 2-3 times a week?

After I had to get up and refill my own water glass TWICE, I left a quarter for a tip. (I was going to leave a nickle but my wife talked me into a quarter.) I hung back a little on leaving to see the waitress's reaction. She was pissed. I don't think she had a clue as to why she got the tip she did.

One thing I love about Outback's(the one near me, at least!)is that they will still make combo's that are no longer offered on the menu. For instance, the flame broiled chicken breast & half rack of baby back ribs...delicious!

There's at least a half dozen steak houses within about 5 miles of my home. I've been to Logan's, but it been a while. I can't remember either the food or service being bad. But I wasn't impressed enough to go back.
