Thumbs up First trip back to the mothership

Had a hard time choosing where to post this, but opted for The Lounge for widest exposure of my satisfaction in recent dealings with Smith & Wesson in Springfield.

My 625 in 45ACP had gotten a little sticky about closing completely, and because the cylinder latch wouldn't operate properly at those times, I feared there was some internal glitch that I wasn't competent to diagnose.

So, I sent an email to the fine folks back at the mothership, and soon received a return authorization including FedEx shipping at S&W's expense. My understanding was that they'd figure out what was wrong, give me a price to fix it, and let me decide how to proceed.

Keep in mind, I'm not the first owner of the 625, which in fact had had some custom barrel work done by the previous owner. I was under no illusions about any warranty.

Well, some time passed, and I started wondering if the smith at S&W had gotten to my gun yet. I almost sent an email one day, but decided to give it a bit more time. Sure enough, a couple of days later, I got a message -- but not the one I was expecting.

Message said my gun was shipping and would be back home in two days. Sure enough, it arrived when it was supposed to, and when I opened the package, I found my 625 good as new after being cleaned and checked for function. No bill, and S&W paid to ship it back to me.

I 'preciated that. And I would have been remiss if I hadn't let you Forum folks know that this is one fine company that we all have in common.
