Spoiler Alert!....................... Since it seems like five years between seasons, my wife and I forgot, or can't figure a couple things. Maybe you can help us out.
What did the new "Hector" do last season or any time that made Longmire so mad at Lou Diamond Phillips that they got in a fight when he suspected him of being Hector? Does he suspect him of a murder we forgot about or something? "Hector" just deals with injustices on the reservation. What's Longmire's beef with him?
Why does Longmire have seathing blind hatred for "Nighthorse"? Since Gerald McRaney was responsible for his wife's murder, why the vendetta against Nighthorse? Does he consider him responsible too, somehow, or some other reason we forgot about? Thanks. And I like all the screen time that cool Henry rifle is getting this season.

My wife is a fan and I have this input from her: Longmire seems to be violently opposed to vigilantism and that is his obsession with Hector.
His wife was very opposed to the casino and that is what ultimately got her killed. The casino is Nighthorse's baby and Longmier sees the casino as being responsible for his wife's death.
And we both think that Longmier is going off the rails a bit and is becoming more and more irrational.

Well the "new" Hector in Walt's mind shot that oil field worker on the reservation. Malachi offered Walt evidence to prove Nighthorse's guilt only to have Malachi disappear because of Hector. Walt also was pretty upset that a friend of 30+ years would lie to his face.

While Nighthorse has not done anything illegal (or at least not directly) he does have a pretty suspicious circle of friends. Nighthorse did also show up at Walt's front door with a number of armed tribesmen.

I too liked the screen time they gave that Henry rifle, and I really appreciated Cady's line, "where is the loading gate?!"

Longmire was in a flat spin all season. I hope he gets out of it soon.

Not having read the books I don't know if this is an accurate portrayal of the character but they need to get his head out soon.

Season six...
Walt retires moves to Denver and becomes a history teacher.
The Ferg hits a 3 million dollar slot at the casino.
The Ferg runs for sheriff..wins and marries Vic.
Henry finds out Ruby is his real mother conceived 45
years ago after her brief affair with Blind Standing Bear.

No seventh season...

Yup...........the writers have us screaming "no,no,no" at Longmire. In addition to current politics, it's almost more than my wife or I can take!

Can't really help with the plot questions but I do agree the show has gone a little silly. The last one I watched had Walt arresting an armed and very troubled girl and then allowing her to walk off handcuffed to the end of a dock for a quiet moment alone. Of course she jumped in. Longmire is supposed to be tough yet compassionate, sure, but he's not supposed to be stupid.

Nighthorse....

They are softening up Nighthorse's image and now he's hired Cady to work for him and with a deal that she will provide free legal aid on the reservation. (I hate 'Rez'). I feel that this will probably become unglued in time.

It seems like Henry is continuing to be forced into vigilantism. This latest thing about the kid's suicide seems to have driven him over the edge. He's avoided prosecution up til now, but he's going to step in it sooner or later.

I'm unsure about Mathias. He seems interested in helping the people on the reservation, but some of his actions just plain don't add up. That thing about sending Henry to the pottery poacher's house cold seemed more like a setup than a mission, in fact a rather stupid move that just chased the crooks away. He does have neat hair, though.

Longmire seems to doing best out of the bunch. He's got his 'girl' back and he's recovering from his trauma.

I'm definitely afraid that Walt will jump the shark. We have really enjoyed it though everything is a really mixed up mess for a county in Wyoming with a minimal population. I was there some years ago and I'm afraid to go back because I might end up dead in a culvert in Absaroka and Ferg will find me instead of Vic.:)

The books???

It's not that Walt is 'out of character' but the events in the TV show are a crazy tangle just to keep people guessing. In the books he's more like Matt Dillon and things don't get so complicated.

The ending was stupid.....

And I guess what would happen as soon as she walked out on the dock. Now what I DID like about the show. She was as convincingly crazy as anybody I've seen on a TV and without 'crazy actions'. What she said about how she felt made so much sense that I wonder where the ideas for the script came from. And Walt giving her the gun was pretty unlikely be he knew that was the key. They must have gotten some psychiatrist to cough a real lulu without naming names. It was just too real.

Found myself yelling at the TV, "It doesn't have a loading gate! It's the tube under the barrel."

Spoiler Alert!!
As soon as that girl in the bar was all frantic needing a ride home from "Henry", I told my wife it was a setup with that guy they kicked off the reservation.
My prediction for next season: Walt will put his land in his daughter's name like his lawyer told him to. Walt's daughter has been adopted into the tribe. Somehow her status as a tribal member, honorary or whatever, will have an effect on that land somehow. Maybe to save it the land will end up with the tribe as custodians legally. I obviously know nothing about law or tribes, but it's just a TV show and that's a direction I see as a possibility. Then Walt could hate "Nighthorse" for another reason. But I don't see that guy going along with whites taking over that land even if it does create more casino customers. While Walt is flipping out, I see Nighthorse turning into the good guy here.

Yes, like no one with a brain could see that one coming.

As near as I can tell, Absoroka County mirrors Johnson county and Durant appears to be based on Buffalo.

After the first season I calculated the murder rate based on a county population of about 8500 and it was clearly the most dangerous place in the nation.

My question of Season 5:
Vic is pregnant. WHEN did Vic and Travis have a "One Night Stand" ? I must have missed or been asleep during that episode.
You missed it. It was pretty quick.... :D

As I recall it happened at Cady's house, where Vic was staying.

No that time at Cady's was with Eamonn. The one night stand with Travis was only eluded to in flashbacks.
