Gary Cooper and his pseudo sidekick, William Demarest-are hoots. For those who aint seen this classic yet? im giving almost nothing away cept'n, I love it when he tries to trick someone with his "steely-eyed, gunfighter look." You have to have seen this movie to know what im talking about.:D

He was trying his "gunfighter bluff, just before black hat walks in.:D

Kinda like the squint here only his right eye was closed a bit more and also-doing justice to Clint Eastwood:

I loved this quote:

His love interest--Loretta Young-who is actually Dan Duryea's love interest:  Title of the movie should have been: "Along Came Trouble." :p

Melody Jones (aka) Gary Cooper/Frank James Cooper--sure had that "lanky Texan" look down right.

His sidekick is pondering what they ought to do next?

Melody decided on the wrong thing to do-as usual:

Went to see his love interest:

The "other" M.J. (Dan Duryea), finally enters the picture.

Here's where the other M.J, gets his comeuppance::eek:

After his girl saves his spineless hide, he gets Dan's gal.

Jones said this before Robert DiNero said it: "You talkin' to me? Are YOU talking to me?"

I also kept thinking of the song.
And it is written,
Temptation,
Yield not to it.
And I didn't. This time.
But since that gate has been breached-
White Flag!
I was going to post a Ray Stevens version.
Never realized how many folks recorded this song!
Tne Coasters version is probably the best!

I saw this one on the late movies before Johnny Carson had clone competition. Pretty good.

Gary Cooper was a tall lanky Montana boy who's mother was of English society. Coop had to attend school in England but spent summers on his fathers Montana ranch. He like Weatherby Rifles.

In one old movie his hat is knocked off and he bends over in the saddle and picked the hat up with his long arm. My brother and I tried all the trick stuff we saw with horses. That one eluded us.

Many times as I've seen this, this the first time I noticed he was wearing a Texas Jockstrap.

I've had a kinda yen for one of them for years.

I see it was produced by Nunnally Johnson.
Never actually met him when he was visiting down in Miss.
Did talk to his wife Dorris Bowden on the phone.
She was my boss' sister.

Nunnallly was the guy who also gave us: The Dirty Dozen.

Gary Cooper is my all time favorite male actor.

He played the cowboy so well because he was a cowboy.

Have heard he was also quite handy with the girls.

I stepped in his footprint in front of the Chinese theatre in
Hollywood and my 13B was a perfect fit, so I'm proud to have something
in common.

Along Came Jones was a hoot. I almost wore out my old VHS tape.

Another good one, my favorite in fact, is The Westerner. Walter Brennan
won an academy award as Judge Bean.

"Coop" used to come up to Idaho and hunt with his friend Earnest
Hemingway.

I believe the Jock Strap holster was Cooper's personal rig. See Vera Cruz, High Noon, Man of the West and a few others I can't recall right away. Also, the belt had no cartridge loops.
