Default Winter sportsman's carry?

When I'm doing chores outside in the winter I'll carry a revolver instead of a semi. Usually it's either my nickle 4" Model 10-8 or my 6" 686-1. With a revolver I don't have to worry that any lube has thickened in the 10 degree +/- weather we have during the winter. However, when the weather warms I'm more likely to carry my "finish challenged" P6.

And I don't think I overlube my semis.

Does anyone else prefer revolvers when the temps get very cold?

Sorry, no pics of the P6 yet-- I'll try to post some

For some years now I've only owned and carried revolvers. That's one reason.

The only lubricant I use--very sparingly--on revolvers is Rem-Oil, which is rated to stay fluid to at least minus 45 degrees.

I'm not a winter sportsman but I look forward to the short winter season here, so that I can comfortably wear an outer cover garment and my 3" 686 with an OWB Galco Combat Master.

I like my other carry choices, but that revolver/holster combo is the best match I have for my capabilities. Fast draw, natural pointer, fast and accurate first and followup shots, effective ammo for a range of uses.

Woods carry or at the cabin I carry a revolver almost 100% of the time ...... either my 3" 66 or my "Kit Gun" a 3" 60-10 (micro-686).

In the "burbs of the Burgh" it a 3913 or 6906 95% of the time.

In the winter I carry either cross-draw or in a shoulder holster so all I have to do is pull the zipper down and reach under my jacket/coat

These are non-issues with a Glock. Just saying.

If you have to worry about your handgun locking up because the lube freezes, you're using too much lube . . .

M69 where there's snakes or bears. M686+4" in other woods or waters.
Semi auto around people because the small ones (LC9s pro) are more concealable and lighter and my lawyer friend suggests it's easier to defend. They all work in any temperature I'm going out in.

My woods carry doesn't change with the seasons. Either a 1911 I put together with 3 8round mags total or a Brazilian contract 1917 4 moon clips total 25 or 24 rounds of 45 ACP. I always have a 49 no dash that is always on me too 5 + 8 round speed strip.
