WHY? the hostility towards the CONFEDERATE battle flag??
Im asking a favor to those who hate what it stands for--NOT to ruin this thread.
Yesterdays shopping trip to WM incident or--would make for a great title to an unexisting season 9 episode of Rawhide. "Incident at Walmart."
I was about done shopping when an someone ive never shared space with before-just blurted out "ill pray for you" and I said my "CONFEDERATE ancestors will thank you for it" as I walked away from stupid arrogance on the others part.
Last Sat-at the gun show here locally, a black Marine Corps vet--GAVE me a CONFEDERATE battle flag patch-to put on one of my caps. Im not going into details on our conversation--but I thought that nice and he was a gent.
Anyway, im going to continue wearing the flag-patch when I wear this particular cap. If im wearing it and I come across one of several black friends of mine---I will out of respect for them if it offends? cover it up or take it off. So far-the ones ive seen since yesterday-not-a-one has a prob with my wearing that patch-fully knowing about the flags use.
Sorry mods if this breaks any rules? not intended.
Thanks -- Henry-aka-Carl.

Books have been written on the subject, but to make it short & sweet, I figure the Confederate Battle Flag represents the Old, Un-PC South, and all it stood for, good and bad, to the current very PC world of today.

The PC groups need targets to focus on to spread their anger. People need to move on, history is what it is and you cannot change it.

The stars and bars represents racism and intolerance to many. To others, it is a symbol of Southern heritage. The PC folks have won for the moment. PC will be the ruin of this country, not necessarily with the Confederate flag, just PC in general.

There are many flags and symbols that could be associated with hate. I once saw a skin head with a swastika tattooed on his forehead. The last time I went to a sushi restaurant the chef had a bandanna around his head with rising sun symbol on it.
Frankly I could care less. Freedom of expression and all that.
People that concern themselves with what others are doing bothers me more. They need to worry about what they are doing and what kind of an example they are setting for their children. Other than that, they need to get a life.
Wear your patch proudly.

the power of symbols is given not taken... if Beyonce' wore a battle flag t-shirt and nothing else the racist overtones would be gone... just don't let the symbols have any power and they can't be used by people with bad intentions to hurt others... by the way... "redneck" meant you did NOT own slaves and had to do your own work... the swastika was both a native American and a Hindu symbol...just ask Mr Gump... stupid is as stupid does...
