I have been an Apple guy for years and a couple of weeks ago my 8 year old i-Mac finally began to die {probably because I had used about 97% of its capacity}. Went down to the Apple store and bought a new one with about twice the capacity. Surprisingly at $1,700 it only cost about $100 more than the original did 8 years ago. {No, I don't wish to debate Apple's vs PC's - a comparable Dell cost just about the same price}.
Finally got it set up and am very happy with the product. My neighbor, a fellow veteran told me he too had just made a purchase from Apple buying his bride a new laptop and how pleased he was to get a nice veterans discount.
Hmmm, I thought, nobody said anything about a discount for vets when I was buying so I called the store and spoke with the manager. Yes they do give a discount to veterans {and thank you for your service}. No there is no signage anywhere in the store to reflect this.... but if I would just come down with my receipt they would be happy to redo the transaction and apply the appropriate discount.
Sounded good to me so my bride and I jumped on the bike for nice ride down to the store. The discount varies with the product and of course the price. They scurried around for 30 minutes tracking their paper trail and cheerfully presented me with a credit back on my credit card... for $327.89. Wow!
Not sure if they didn't sweeten the deal for my aggravation though I never asked but the discount came to right at 20%. As noted, the discount varies with what you buy but they could not have been nicer.
Just a heads up to my brother veterans out there if you are buying anything from Apple be sure and ask if there is an applicable discount.
Like the man said...
From sex to sales, nothing beats asking.
There are only two possible answers and only one of them is bad.
You don't ask... you don't get.
Hope this helps someone else out there and thanks for your service too.
