Default DC Query

Won't take yes or no as Gospel; I intend to look into it further.

Is it possible to register a Winchester 94 Trapper in .357 in Washington, D.C.?

A relative is moving there and wants to give me all of his few guns. One is the Winchester. I think you can keep the Brooklyn Carbine in D.C.

Thanks for your time.

Respond private if you wish.

Regulations seem clear that min. 16in barrel and at least 26in overall. Data from Winchester's current Trapper Compact (Compact is .357) page indicates it is 16in barrel x 33 1/4 overall. There is also a 10 round limit and the .357 Trapper shows that it holds 9.

Seems to pass muster.

Your relative's best bet is to live across the Potomac in Northern Virginia, not in DC proper. Then he can keep all his guns.

The magazine capacity is, I assume the number of .357 cartridges it can hold, not .38 Special? The advertised mag capacity for the Trapper is 9 -.357. Not sure whether it would hold more than 10 in .38 Special, or if that makes any difference.

If I lived someplace where I couldn't have a handgun, I would gladly take a Trapper in .357 or .44 Mag. I have one in .44, and I can get 11 - .44 Specials in the magazine.
