Default eBay Buyers-No Pay & No Feedback

Over the past eleven years I've bought and sold on eBay on and off. When I sell items, I provide multiple good quality photos and accurate condition descriptions. Buyers are always pleased with the items and had always left me positive feedback as I did for them.
Apparently the "new" thing for eBay buyers is to never leave feedback! When did this start? Last year I sold about fifteen items total and got feedback twice. I sold ten items in the past month and only a single, solitary buyer left feedback for me! I left 100% positive feedback for them. Tough for me to build my seller rating numbers when nobody leaves feedback.

Now another wrinkle, I've auctioned and sold the same item twice this month and may need to do it a third time. Why? The auction winners never paid and ignore mine and ebay's emails. The bad part, when you open an unpaid item case eBay won't allow you to leave negative buyer feedback even though the buyer never pays. All you get is to re-list the item for no listing fees. Big whoop. No wonder I prefer to sell on internet forums like this one.

This lapse in posting feedback might be due to "Feedback Request Saturation"

Every business wants feedback these days; my dentist, my wife's hairdresser, my credit union, etc.

I'll post eBay, GB, and S&W feedback but just keep ignoring everyone else unless they rate negative feedback and then I'll let them know.

The no feedback for non-paying bidders is nothing new. A buyer's feedback means nothing. File the stuff thru eBay and the non-payer get a "strike" on their record. 2 or 3 of those and many sellers will have them blocked from bidding. And add the ID to your Blocked Bidder List.

+1. I do provide eBay and a few others feedback consistently, but others seek feedback ad nauseum. I'm happy to provide feedback for small businesses/sellers, but I don't see feedback affecting Amazon or the major online sellers.

My job changed from evals of work done to surveys on calls taken. Two very different things. Thinned out the staff pretty quickly, as the really good folks would zero in on a problem and spend whatever time was needed to resolve it, while not taking new calls. Others would just answer the phone, and dump the problem on others to drive up their call rate.

As a result I refuse all surveys now unless the person does something really stupid or extremely stellar.

I always leave feedback, both buying and selling. But I often do not do it very promptly. Sometimes I'll let it slide for a month or two.

I think it is fair to say that eBay invented the "feedback" system. For many years it was exclusive to eBay.

But nowadays nearly every internet purchase results in nagging emails requesting feedback or reviews of the product.

Don't worry about feedback. It doesn't matter how much you have, it only matters that it is positive.

I used to get a little miffed when we didn't receive feedback on Ebay. If 4-6 weeks passed by without feedback, I would send a message asking the customer if they liked what they received and if so, if they could take the time to leave feedback since small businesses depend on feedback. A few people would respond that they loved the grips but then we still wouldn't get feedback so I just gave up. We get about 75% feedback so I guess we are doing well! It only takes a few seconds to leave feedback so I don't know why some people don't especially when you like what you received.

This seems to be a common problem.
Often, if not most times, I contact the buyer via ebay and let them know I will post feedback for them after they have posted it for me. That way, one hand washes the other.
I do the same on GB, but on GB, you can retract your feedback should you decide to do so. I've done that one time so far.

They are too busy moving on to their next purchase.

If there is a problem buyers waste no time letting you know. No feedback is good feedback.

I seldom left feedback on ebay until I learned that the sellers don't have
access to their money until either feedback is left or a week (I think)
has passed. Now I try to leave it for them right away. I leave feedback
for buyers as soon as I receive payment. I never leave it for sellers who
want it from me the buyer when they haven't left it for me.

This is true only for new sellers.

I've got about 500 positives on ebay. If I'm dealing with someone with similar numbers I don't bother with feedback. If it's a newbie or if someone requests feedback I'll leave it but otherwise no.

I have 10,000+ eBay feedback combined on 2 different accounts, mostly as a seller.
If a buyer leaves me feedback I'll return it. I never ask for it. Buyer feedback means nothing other than they buy stuff, maybe a lot of stuff.

I've never left feedback on Amazon, wouldn't know how.

GB I have always left feedback

It used to bother me when no feedback was left for me. Now I just wait for the buyer to give it. I got tired of giving great feedback for the buyer and receiving none back. Also you have the option of blocking the buyer from the next auction you have. Way too many buyers out there to worry about losing one.

eBay makes it harder if you leave feedback and are a buyer. First, if you left positive feedback too quickly and then discover a problem they use that against you. Second, if you leave feedback it increases their emails to you. Third, if you leave negative feedback before the seller leaves feedback it opens you to retaliatory feedback. eBay's rules have gotten more and more twisted and more and more covert and complicated making it less likely that I want to a) fool with them at all and b) deal with their feedback system.

I haven't used eBay in a very long time. At least a decade....at least. But when it first came out I used it often. In the early 00s I was in my late teens to early 20s. I never scammed people, I always paid right away but I gotta say I don't remember ever leaving feedback. I just want my product. If I'm not leaving feedback I'm happy with what I bought. Today, if I buy something on a forum I will leave feedback

As an E-bay buyer, not seller, I’ve had the above happen to me, and did not care for it in the least. I felt it was a threat. I have no problem with being asked to leave feedback, but I don’t like being threatened.

As a buyer, why in the world would I be worried about some seller’s feedback. When I buy anything I pay for it before it ships, so the seller should not have any worries about getting stiffed.
