Mississippi Highway Signage Test ... Take it for Fun!
I saw this on another Forum and thought people here might enjoy giving this test a try. I got them all, but freely admit I had to guess at a couple. Have Fun!

Wail, a meager 75%, but I have never driven in Mississippi.
Currently have a Japan (national) DL, and Oregon. Previously, VA and HI.
Last two tests, HI and OR, scored 100%, but I cheat. (I study up assiduously. Works every time.)

Yeah, I didn't know it was a timed test or I wouldn't have dawdled as much. Well, who cares?

Yes, they have signs. Roads? Not so much.
This reminds me of a Huey P Long quote:
"When I became governor, the roads in this state (Louisiana) were so bad the weather couldn't get from Mississippi to Texas."

Our highways have been vastly improved from 30 years ago, when our legislature passed the 1987 Highway Act. Many of our former two-lane highways have become divided four-lane highways, bypasses built, and some highways rerouted and built where no highway has gone before. Our highways were not that great for much of my life, but they are much better than they were when I was younger. Our problem going forward is finding the money needed to maintain them. Some of our rural roads and rural bridges are in need of repair, as are some of our city streets. I have driven in all of neighboring states, as well as many other states, and our highways are at least equal, and often better, in my opinion. I would not have said that thirty years ago.
I got my Mississippi Driver's license in 1966, at age 15. I believe I was in the 9th grade. At that time you did not have to have a learner's permit, or even have Driver's Education in school. My mother took me to the Sumner Courthouse in Tallahatchie County, where a Highway Patrolman (a/k/a State Trooper) gave me a written test, and rode with me as I drove around a long block. While I did not have to have driver's education to get my DL, I was required to have Driver's Education to graduate from High School. I took it in the spring of my senior year, but had already had my DL for 3 years by that time. I am pretty sure our current laws are stricter now, and you have to be older than 15.
I have been driving our roads, streets and highways for over 50 years and out of all the signs on that test, there is one in particular, that I don't remember ever seeing.

They left out the bullet holes. Didn't look real. They also have rules with no signage for them. High beams only after dark, at least one must work. Tail and brake lights optional, turn signals are for sissies and throw beer cans in the back of the truck, not on the road.

I have never seen a sign like that for no passing zone. That is a slow moving vehicle sign turned sideways.

I was in a hurry and missed the double curved sign...I missed one once that had arrows going in both directions...hit it dead center and took the front end out from under my '62 Nova.

4 minutes - 100%. I live next door to Mississippi and go there fairly often.
I remember back in 1974, Uncle Sam sent me to Germany. I had to take a test for a Military Driver's License that would allow me to drive on German roads. They had a big board where you had to match the correct European road sign with what it stood for. Must have been 50 or more of them. When I finished, the examiner told me that I was the first person he'd seen to get them all right on the first try. Most people had to do it several times.

There should have been separate classes: MS residents and neighbors vs Yankees :-) . I only got 90% but I'm so far over the hill I did great.

Most of these signs were developed in Mississippi and are now pretty much uniform nationwide. The streets and highways in Mississippi are better than a lot of other states I have driven in. Most of the gravel roads around here are private or go through national forest land. It used to be in the summer just about every car you saw had a thick coat of dust on them because of the gravel roads. Now most of them are just covered in love bugs.
