The S&W brand Expandable Batons , are they actually mfg by S&W like the handcuffs, or licensed made in China knockoffs like the knives ?

The duty use market is totally dominated by ASP and Monadac , I don't even have any third hand feedback on S&W ( or any other economical brand).

Back in the day, I had. Monadonock straight baton, and various blackjacks, and felt reasonably confident in my equipment. Today , I am issued 21in ASP and Sabre Red, and feel reasonably confident , within those catagories.

Meanwhile, on another Forum, the S&W expandable specifically came up . I don't wan t to blindly assert ASP.rules, and everything else categorically Drools without some actual knowledge.

Checking LE supplier I've dealt with , carries the S&W , at a price midway between ASP , and the usual chinese knockoff junk .

So my specific inquires are about the S&W brand Expandable metal batons :

S&W mfg, or licensed ?
Midlevel product at comensurate price point, or overpriced trash ?

My favorite is the Bonowi from Germany.

Peacekeeper is another great one and is made in the USA and is much easier to find than Bonowi.

Both close with a button and you don't need to hit the end on a hard surface to close it.
Most importantly, the weight is evenly distributed throughout the baton in the two above and not in the handle like the ASP.

In my experience the 26" ASP if a better choice, HOWEVER a much better choice is the PR-24.

still have my 26" ASP that is bend like a bow from attempting to subdue a illegal alien on PCP
