I was watching a few minutes of one of the old 'Roy Rogers' show and I have often wondered what they were thinking when they 'melded' clearly conflicting time periods together. For instance the vehicles in the show are clearly from the 40's & 50's (with people in similar time period clothing & other technology) yet Roy and his friends are riding horses, carrying Colt SAAs and displaying a lifestyle more reminiscent of the late 1800s. I have often wondered if this was deliberate or something else.

I watched part of one a few weeks ago, for a little bit.

Noticed that when a guy got hit on the head, the impact frame was left out
and then showed the guy falling to the floor in a cabin.

PG rated for the kids ?

Never noticed it when I was a youngster, watching.

Nelly Belle? Was that the jeep?
Yep - a CJ-2A with what appeared to be original military armor cut down for the doors and front short wind screen. The original.

Roy of course rode Trigger on TV- Movies.
In real life, he preferred a two wheeler.
I know guys who used to see him around Victorville- Apple Valley.

They forgot to give Trigger the Horse equal billing.

People were widely using plow horses (or mules) well into 40s. Would it be surprising that horses were still commonly used for transportation, especially in areas where decent roads were scarce?

A cowboy NOT riding a horse or carrying a Colt SAA-who would accept THAT?
In the 1950 there a was a series"Tales of the Texas Rangers", the stories alternated between being set in the present and the past.

I think the idea was......

...that is was set in more modern times but the west was still wild and had all the trappings of the late 1800s. Rustlers, bandits, hoss thieves...

Who remembers Gene Autry's 'Radio Ranch' with aliens and the whole works. Everything a kid could want back then.
