Prayers for all the people lost in this crazy shooting in L.V.
I just found out that 2 of my wife's nieces were in that hotel . I pray they were not at the concert.

From what I can glean from the news, it was a guy with a full auto weapon shooting from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay casino.

Rate of fire is way too slow for an FA AR and inconsistent. Bet it will be one of those crank-handle 'trigger activator' deals.

I have to agree. You can hear the rate of fire speed up and slow down. Crank thingie.

I had never heard of one of those hand cranks for rapid fire, so looked up on the "net" I can't imagine ever using one. I guess they keep the ammo makers happy though.
It will be interesting to find out the motivation of the no good or crazy person who caused the tragedy in L.V.
Prayers for the dead, injured, and their families. A quick trip to hell for that shooter and anyone else involved.

Hopefully we WILL be able to find out what actually happened-but given past experience we will have to sift through a great deal of chaff first. Will be interesting to see what the GF says when they find her. Until then-I'm just gonna watch and pray for the victims

CNN, is reporting, per LVMPD, MORE than 50 deceased, and 400 + are being treated at local hospitals.

I'm not even watching the news right now. People who know nothing about what happened are being interviewed so they can tell us what happened.

It will be days, if not longer, before we know what actually happened.

In the mean time, the tin foil hat brigades from all sides of the political spectrum will point fingers.

Craven politicians won't even wait for the bodies to cool before they use it to push their agendas.

In the end, the shooter's name will be famous, but only the families will remember the victims.

The Sheriff says they found 10 rifles in the room. They've located the girlfriend - "out of the country" - and don't believe she was involved.
The suspect checked into the hotel on the 28th.

This brings to mind the Texas tower shooter where he was later found to have a brain tumor. The "news" says 400 wounded and they're begging for blood donors.

This will ignite the gun control crowd, so be prepared for stupid rhetoric from them. From what I have seen on the news, the people were outside in a confined area which, of course, increased the number of victims. This will probably be a mental health issue and that is a real problem. As a LEO, I handled several mental cases with weapons and, although, it ended with no injuries it makes a cork screw go up you spine. This Is a case of domestic Terrorism and we can only be vigilante and be ready to take care of our own and be prepared for " copy cat" incidents in the near future. This is not the America that I grew up in during the 1950's and 1960's and I fear for my grand daughters.

Not to diminish the loss of life and the heartache that will last for a very long time, but here we go again.........with the assault on our 2nd amendment rights..........I won’t go into all the questions about how did this happen, why etc, othe than we need to brace ourselves. Time to pick up more ammo and another AR or two before they are banned.

Was following some comments on another website, one loon kept repeating that "fully automatic weapons are legal in Nevada and easily obtained". Every time actual laws regarding illegal modification, black market purchase, etc, were brought up, she just kept repeating the lie. Goebbels would have been proud. Like most here, I will wait until more info is provided before passing judgment...either way, nutjob killer's profile will eventually be brought to light.

I just HEARD a police spokesman announce that the murderer shot himself PRIOR to the police entering the room.

Latest thing from Metro here said 50 dead and 406 injured.

Did hear one amusing call-in on a radio show berating the local TV stations for bogus information last night. All I wanted to hear was my traffic news. The TV folks reported another shooter from the MGM Grand. That's easily explained by whoever told the TV folks not understanding "crack and thump" when it comes to locating the source of fire.

Watching local Las Vegas news calls for blood donors, showed one collection building with line 2 blocks long.
City will feel the aftershock form this for years.

We realize that this great tragedy will be on your hearts and minds for a long time to come.
You are free to discuss it.
With 59 dead and over 500 injured, just remember that there are THOUSANDS of people affected when we include the friends and family.
Have consideration for those people as you discuss it.
I'll also remind you that all forum rules still apply. As the usual suspects start screaming once again for more gun controls and bans, we won't need to go into general political commentary, the bashing of Liberals or Democrats, Obamacare, or any other banned topic.

My son has been a LVMPD officer for 11 years, thankfully he was not working last night. When something like the floods in Texas happen , the Cajun navy showed up to help not asking for anything for their efforts stories about the selflessness of people at the concert are coming out.
Strangers stopping to help people who had fallen, people using shirts as tourniquets , stopping cars and having driver haul wounded to the hospitals, tearing down fences to use as stretchers and on and on.
Out of the worst of times the best of people jump in and help.

The Shooter engaged targets of opportunity from the 32nd floor. He was well out of range of legally concealed defensive sidearms, sadly. If only he was in the engagement zone of a sheepdog...
