Breakfast At Tiffany's

I liked both Hepburns though both were a bit
too scrawny. :)

The only woman in that OP photo who appeals to me is the tall waitress. I gather that you prefer the customers, who look to me like women who've eaten too many bananas and too much ice cream, and probably, those other redneck breakfast items cited in a post here.

My ideal woman is five feet seven and about 117 pounds. I guessed that while thinking about it and checked the specs on an actress whom I admire. I hit the figures dead on the nose: she is exactly that height and weight and others are very close. The tallest I've dated was five feet ten, and in heels, she was taller than me. She said I handled that better than most men, some of whom she said were too challenged by being with a tall woman. I don't like short girls, let alone wide ones.

The one I married was five seven and very close to the weight specified. So is my daughter, who does like the idea of a chic brunch. It was one of her favorite meals out when she lived here.

It is true that many women are attracted to the idea of brunch in refined settings. Here, the Mansion on Turtle Creek seems the best place for that.

I associate Eggs Benedict with brunch. If Tiffany's can't provide that or good omelets, they're just cheating customers. It is true that some women will eat or shop anywhere with snob appeal. I've known some to carry shopping bags from Neiman-Marcus when they weren't going to that store. They just wanted to look fashionable and affluent.

I know one girl Online who hopes to marry a billionaire and dotes on movies like,"Pretty Woman" and "Fifty Shades of Grey", where a woman scores a very wealthy man. At least, she's honest about it. I suspect that one reason why she became a nurse is to meet doctors. She lives in Chicago but travels to NYC and loves the place. I think Tiffany's would be just the thing for her. I'll ask if she's eaten there. She told me that she uses that jogging trail where the nut case famously ran over some people a few weeks ago. That jarred her...

She's been mistaken for actress Kristin Kreuk, so I'd say her chances of snagging a rich man are quite good. She is intelligent and seems well read and tasteful.

Unless I'm trying to impress a gal, my idea of breakfast is at IHOP. I think their Rooty, Tooty, Fresh and Fruity meal is the best commercial breakfast deal going. And actually, all the women I've taken to breakfast liked it. My main cholesterol intake is an omelet or scrambled eggs with ham.And I like a little bacon on the side, sometimes. I do like fruit with breakfast, especially Kiwi fruit, oranges, and melons.

My son prefers Denny's to IHOP, but I get indigestion whenever I eat at Denny's.

Frankly, I enjoy knowing about breakfast at Tiffany's, but probably will never watch the movie or eat there,or in New York.

About Audrey Hepburn dancing for SS officers...um, what sort of dancing? I suspect that she'd appeal as much to Allied officers, and may have, after the Germans left Holland.

The post about that said that she lived near Arnhem. I wonder if she saw the intense battle there in 1944.

The Hepburn mentioned by BearBio was the unrelated Kate, not Audrey, who was a child supporter of the Dutch resistance.

She witnessed wartime atrocities, as Audrey was 11 years old when the Germans entered Arnhem, and was a severely malnourished 15 year old when they left. That wartime starvation led to her lifelong difficulty gaining weight.

You're all right==It was Kate
Mia culpa!

She did ballet dancing and turned the money she earned over to the Resistance.

You're confusing me. Was Kate the famous Katherine Hepburn? I thought she was from New England.

Was it Audrey in Arnhem? She looks the part. Can't see Katherine in that role. Was Kate a third Hepburn?

Why was she so malnourished? Were the Germans confiscating the Dutch food supplies? If she danced for them, didn't she get many tips? I'd think she'd have their sympathy and they'd see she got fed and good tips. Some would probably be especially sympathetic because of her age. Whether she was doing ballet or some more erotic dancing, it seems she'd be a favorite entertainer.

BTW, I saw some wartime movie that showed German soldiers confiscating blankets from homes in Norway, to send to Germany. No idea if they really did that.

Well, didn't she keep enough money for food?!

Mightn't German officers take her out to dinner sometimes? If she got them talking, that could be a good source of intelligence to pass to the Resistance.

Yes, thanks, BWZ, for the biography. Nice story about a nice person. There should be more folks like AH in today's world.
Your welcome.

I can't begin to imagine the strength of character it requires to spend your formative years immersed in the horrors of the Nazis, and afterward still reach deep to pull out joyous characters for us to enjoy.

Another popular and fun connection to her wonderful character in "Roman Holiday" that the public can share, is putting your hand in the "Mouth of Truth" in Rome.

I've never been able to sit through "Breakfast at Tiffany's". The main reason is Holly Golightly. While I normally love any movie with Audrey Hepburn in it, this movie is an exception. Holly tries so hard to be eccentric, she appears to be incapable of normal human emotion. She is neither amusing nor charming as a result. She merely appears to be someone who is trying too hard to maintain a cool, wacky facade. If it's obvious that someone is working too hard to maintain a certain public image, then they come across as fake and annoying. To me, that's Holly Golightly.

I'm not a big fan of hers but, I thought she was good opposite Bogie and William Holden--also Eldred Gregory Peck.

Yes Kate is Katherine for short and the Germans confiscated blankets-coats etc-because they ""required"" their own citizens to give up such comforts in order to send that clothing to their soldiers freezing on the Eastern Front. However, most of that stuff was not distributed to frontline soldiers freezing on the front lines-and went to the REMFS-or never got out of the warehouses.

Ditto on the Eggs Benedict and also notice no bacon! IMO: breakfast without bacon isn't breakfast at all.

Eh, Texas Star,

Regarding women's weight: Unless you hefted
all of them up on a reliable scale, I don't think
you necessarily got the truth.

Watch the trial scene in "Liar Liar" regarding
Jennifer Tilly's weight. :D

It is sometimes possible to find an actress or model's weight listed on the Net and my guesstimates are usually very close. Playboy lists models weights, so you can get a good idea of what a stated weight looks like on a girl of a given height. I've seen five Playmates in person and all looked to be the weight claimed. I don't think either they or the magazine faked it.

I've also watched my ex-wife and several girlfriends weigh themselves and discussed it when they wanted to. Usually, they either wanted reassurances that they looked good or were fishing for compliments.

Girls I dated ranged from 105 lbs. to about 125 lbs. and heights ranged from 5'2" to 5' 10". They were all sized correctly for height. Most were 5' 7" or close and from 115-120 lbs. For my eyes, that's ideal.

Some here brag that they like heavier women. I don't understand that, but tastes vary.
