He has received his reward.
I hope to make his acquaintance when I get there.

The man has spread the word of God to an estimated 215 million people and that's just in person.
RIP Mr. Graham.

My parents and I saw Billy Graham preach in 1958 in Charlotte.
I knew what "charismatic" meant, even at that young age, but I'd never really seen a live example of it before. I saw it then. He was forty-years-old then, and a mesmerizing speaker. A true firebrand.
Over a half-century later, the memory is still strong in my mind.
By his own account, Reverend Graham did not fear death. He and Ruth are together again now.
Eternal Peace to both of them.

Over 20 years ago his son was giving an interview in which he stated his dad had given away everything of value...penniless with no assets to his name....Mr. Graham stated he didn't want to be carrying any excess baggage when arriving at the Gates.

Seems to me that his reported net worth in 2017 was north of 25 million. Must have made a lot of money in the last 20 yrs.

I was raised in a very religious family and greatly admired Rev. Graham for his middle of the road approach to religion and events. His strongest point I feel is forgiveness and understanding. We have lost a great one.

His ORGANIZATiON is worth....
His organization is worth millions. His personal life has been purposefully free of ostentation.
And any money he has has gone toward his goal of evangelizing through out the entire world.
And he at least visited, wes friends with or advised every President since Truman.
One early in his career he was talking to someone after a rally and laughed and glanced to one side while they were carrying a basket of donations by him. The picture was made out to be him leering at the cash as it went by. He told his crew that he didn't want to be seen anywhere NEAR money after that.
I've been by his home in Montreat, NC. It was a big, nice place, but no bigger and nicer than many professional people have that we know .

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to see/hear him speak while he was living. He was the greatest preacher of our time.
Here is his memorial website for anyone interested:

I was always impressed with the passion, down to earth common sense, and love for his fellow man that marked all his sermons. He never seemed like he was PREACHING like some of the charismatics rather, he was just talking to us. I always thought he was unique in his style. He was truly a gentle loving soul. No telling how many souls he brought to God.

".....Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." Matthew 25:23
His bold testimony humbled me and showed me the shameful shortcomings of mine.
I hope we see his like again someday.

I was fortunate enough to see Rev. Graham preach at an outdoor stadium in the early 70s. He will be missed.
I couldn't help while watching Fox News earlier thinking that the Gospel was being preached on national TV while the reporters spoke of Graham's life. I have no doubt there are people finding Salvation due to the reporting of his death.
Billy Graham - still accomplishing the Lord's work after death.

Aren't we not supposed to discuss religion here?
I would like to say some thing but don't want to get dinged again for speaking of religion.
Well RIP Mr. Graham!

You can take religion out of the picture and still respect the fact that the man spoke in favor of good and respect for your fellow man then pretty much tried to follow that path.

Maybe he was using a word picture as an illustration. Not everything someone says should be taken 100% literality

RIP and Godspeed to the Rev. Dr. Graham.
We are all diminished by his passing.
He was arguably the most influential North Carolinian in history.

Possibly the only popular evangelist that nobody could ever get any dirt on as far as I know, unlike many of the others.

I took it as Mr. Graham understanding the rich man, camel and the needle.
Being a proud rich man does not require accumulation of excessive money...something to think about.

Certain "hot button" topics are banned on this board because the discussions often get heated, create hard feelings and detract from our core purpose. They would also require too much of our time moderating, with nothing resolved.
Religion is still one of those banned topics, but we make a distinction between advocating/criticizing specific religions (including atheism) and mentioning God/faith/prayers.
I don't see a problem honoring the life and mourning the death of a great American who had a positive impact on millions of people.
RIP Rev. Graham

Well he did live to be 99 and Graham accomplished a lot more than the average individual. He was born on a dairy farm and always said he was, “just a country boy.” But over his lifetime he wrote 33 books (all of which are still being published) and the ministry he started with Cliff Barrows and George Bev Shea in 1950 (BGEA) became other separate individual ministries like The Billy Graham Library, The Cove Training Center, Decision Magazine, and the Christian radio station 106.9 The Light. He also hosted a weekly radio program for over 60 years, and wrote a syndicated newspaper column, “My Answer” for the same amount of time. Graham not only did crusades but he was also a forerunner in the television and film industry before Christian movies were ever even popular. World Wide Films which was started by Graham produced films from the 1960s-90s: World Wide Pictures It seems to me like most of whatever he made was put back to use in some way or another, to spread the Gospel.
One thing about the BGEA’s financials is that they have always strived to be transparent. Their annual reports are online for all to see: Financial Info
From what I understand the only reason Graham was taking a salary in his old age was because his son Franklin wanted him to do so. But Graham never wanted to lift his own name. The day he toured The Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, he said he felt there was too much about Billy Graham and not enough Jesus.
He never started a mega-church or ran for office–even though many wanted him to do so, but he remained true to his calling as an evangelist. And for all the money he was worth he lived his life and raised his children in a modest cabin he built in the 1940s in the mountains of NC (Montreat). It would be hard to find any preacher who could live that modestly in today's world, especially if they had the recognition Graham had in his day.
