Evaluators Ltd. at the National Rifle Matches
A photo from the 1950’s. The back is pencilled “ National Rifle Matches
Fort Benning General Van Orden Major Van Orden “.
A few fine Winchester target rifles and a Winchester pump shotgun. Note the Heiser and two Berns-Martin holsters on the table, the belt and holster hanging on the rifle is a Heiser shoulder rig popular for private purchase use during the Korean War.
The portly gentleman is of course Brigadier General George Van Orden, I’m guessing that’s his son standing next to him.
Regards,
turnerriver

Great pic! He ordered quite a few "Special" S&W's too for his Evaluators company. My only question is the "National Rifle Matches" would have been at Camp Perry ,Ohio. If at Ft. Benning, it might have been interservice or qualifying. The Army Marksmanship Unit is based there and has been for many years. The National Infantry Museum is a great visit too if you get in the Columbus, GA area.
