Ban Doctors !
(A) The number of physicians in the US is 700,000
(B) Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year are 120,000.
(C) Accidental dates per physician is 0.171
Now think about this:
GUNS
(A) The number of gun owners in the USA is 80,000,000.
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188
(Statistics from the FBI. )
So, statistically, doctors are approx. 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember; Guns don't kill people, Doctor's do!
Not everyone has a gun but almost everyone has a doctor. That means you are 9,000 times more likely to be killed by a doctor than a gun owner!
WE MUST BAN DOCTORS BEFORE THIS GET OUT OF HAND !

We could start by banning bump docs.

The three leading causes of death are (1) Heart disease (2) Cancer and (3) medical errors by doctors. Nuff said! Ed.

Many years ago I was auditing state agencies.
One of them was the medical license board.
I reviewed the testing program. Passing was 60%
Your state may not be the same, but they only had to be right
6 times out of 10 here.
I checked our family doctor. He scored in the high 90s.
I was impressed.

If it weren't for an exceptional ER doc and staff....I would've left this earth 18 years ago. The last thing I remember that day was a nurse saying he's going into cardiac arrest... then telling me to breathe deeply to supply your brain with oxygen.....to limit brain damage in case you make it.
You won't hear me trash talking docs or nurses....

My favorite barber of all time; told me he felt so much better after stopping all of his heart survival meds....he was gone in less than 6months...
You sound like your doctors are friends....Dads physicians refuse to charge a fee on his final visits. All of them said: "He wasn't a patient; He was my friend!"

Well my father was a long time undertaker and he has said on a few occasions, "I have covered up doctors mistakes!
As for me I know due to having a good Doc, I'm still alive to write this!

The above seems to have come from this esteemed website
Stupid Joke - Doctors vs. Guns
Doctors have accidental "dates"
There seems to be an important fact left out of the above.
What is the TOTAL number of patients in the US?
I guess Drs are like Lawyers, they suck until you actually need one.
Like any field, there are Great ones, good ones and no so go ones,
Are the deaths by private Drs or does this include Hospital deaths,

Well, were it not for my doctors, I assure you I would not be writing what you are reading right now.
Have you read any statistics on longevity of those who receive medical advice/treatment versus those who do not (in similar socioeconomic situations)?

While meant as a tounge-in-cheek thread, there is a nugget here. Dividing accidental deaths caused by doctors by the US population one is STILL 2.5 times more likely to die as result of a medical accident.
So just as no rational person suggests banning doctors or automobiles, those who suggest banning firearms are, well, simply put, less than rational.

Another take on Lobo's thread is that we'll never know whether our doctor graduated first or last in his class.

I have had that posted at my shop for years.
Reading material for customers while I research their gun or whatever they
brought in to pawn or sell.

Nor would I.
My attorney would be speaking with them despite all the releases one must sign to get them to touch you.

I know the OP wasn't intending to equate doctors with murderers...
Blaming doctors for patient deaths is a bit like blaming the ground for the death of someone who falls off a building. The initial conditions are also a contributing factor.

Get the book, SELF SURGERY FOR BEGINERS. There are risks with ANY procedure, as they tell you. Nobody forces you to see an MD.

I wonder what the rate of physician-induced accidents and misdiagnoses is for physicians who are presently in one of the National Guard branches or retired from the Guard within the last five years, plus physicians who were in the armed forces within the last five years? I refer to those physicians having privileges at better rated hospitals.
FYI: Yes, hospitals have ratings. Before entering one for treatment or surgery, check the rating.
I suspect rates of problems will almost be off-the-charts low, poor ones having been cashiered for cause and being unable to be granted privileges.
