Today was Tammisunnuntai in Finland (January Sunday)
Tammisunnuntai – Wikipedia
January Sundays are celebrated annually on the last Sunday of January to commemorate the start of the Finnish War of Independence . Originally, the designation meant Sunday, January 27, 1918, when the war is considered to have started. [1]
The Southern Ostrobothnia protectorates were supposed to start disarming Russian soldiers in South Ostrobothnia at 3 o'clock on the night before Monday , January 28, 1918. [2] In the morning of the same day, the Red Guards took over the cities of southern Finland. In Laihia, however, the men started disarming the Russian Hulmi garrison already on Sunday evening, January 27. There is a monument erected in memory of the Battle of Hulmi , which also has the names of the men from Laihia who died during the disarmament. [2] January 23, 1918 has also been considered the beginning of disarmament , when Russian soldiers were disarmed on a smaller scale in Karelia . [3]
The background was that the Russian Council of People's Commissars had recognized Finland's independence , but Russian troops were still in Finland despite the Senate's request. In this case, Mannerheim took the initiative and began to draw up a plan with his officers to disarm the Russian garrisons in Ostrobothnia. [4]
In 2017, the incident was made into a documentary film Tammysûnntai 1918 , which was part of the official Suomi 100 program. It premiered on November 17, 2017 at the Filmia ja valoa festival. [5]
The traditional organizations of the whites have cherished the memory of January Sunday by organizing celebrations almost every year throughout Finland's independence, with the exception of a few years after the wars [3] . Especially in Ostrobothnia, the holiday is in force.
CGE Mannerheim , the commander-in-chief of the Whites who led the disarmament of the Russians in Ostrobothnia, also died by chance on a January Sunday in 1951

Finnish General Adolf Ehrnrooth was visiting England in the 1970's. English general asked him how many Soviet troops were stationed in Finland.
- A few hundred thousand, Ehrnrooth replied.
- Where are they stationed?
- Two metres deep under ground all along our Eastern border.

Without the knowledge we learned from the Winter War,
the 87th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, might not have happened.
Thanks to Finland for that.

The Black Sea WAS the Russian lake until Ukrainian Neptune missiles, seaborne drones, and HIMARs turned a Russian cruiser and several large landing craft into submarines and a submarine into a coral reef.

If anybody knows about remembrance and staying vigilant, it's the Finns. Since about '39 or so. Stay frosty, my friend, and thanks for remembering.

As a neighbor of the east devil, we have to be on guard 24/7/365.
The Russian Naval Command has positioned two Buyan-M class missile corvettes on Lake Ladoga, located north of Priozersk, Russia. These corvettes are currently docked on the lake, about 30 miles from Finland
Russia deploys Buyan-M warships 30mi from Finland and Putin's Dacha
The border crossing points on the land border between Finland and Russia will remain closed until further notice.

Putin now faces NATO on an untenably long set of borders. He can't even keep Ukrainians out of the portions of Russia they now occupy.

I am sharing this so everyone in the US knows what the fate of the Ukrainians will be if Russia wins the war.
Ukraine needs weapons and permission to use all weapons without restrictions
https://x.com/TallbarFIN/status/1835047287258816982
Seeds of the Finnish people's hatred towards Russia were cruelly sown in the first half of the 18th century.
On the orders of the Russian Tsar Peter the Great, a genocide took place, which is known in Finland as "Great Wrath".
The Great Wrath started in full force in 1714 when the Swedish army suffered a decisive defeat in the Battle of Napue in Iso Kyrö.
It is still the worst massacre in Finnish military history.
In a couple of hours, 2,645 Finns who fought among the Swedes were killed.
After Russians drove the Swedes away, tsar gave his troops permission to rob, rape and kill all the Finns they encountered.
Tsar also ordered the population centers to be destroyed.
Nothing restrained the Russian soldiers & the least of them was their conscience.
Russian troops were inhumane.
Usually, Finns who were unexpectedly caught in front of the patrols were killed immediately.
Some of the inhabitants of the farms were shot for fun, some were tortured, so that the soldiers would find out about the hiding places of valuables.
No one who stayed at home was spared, not even small children or pregnant women. There were public killings.
Pregnant mothers were dragged behind horses & left on the side of the road for others to see.
Infants were left to starve or freeze to death.
Finns fled from the population centers of northern Ostrobothnia, Oulu and Raahe were completely deserted cities for 2 years after the Russians looted them.
29.9.1714, people who fled to the island of Hailuoto, near the city of Oulu, fell victim to the Russian Cossacks. More than 800 Finns died in the massacre during that night.
Russian cavalry was the most feared of the enemy forces and committed the worst atrocities.
The fate of Ukraine is in our hands
