As some may have read, the Saudis and OPEC are in a price war with Russia regarding oil. As a result, gas prices are in freefall.

Out here in the West, diesel is usually the same price as midgrade, or sometimes even less. Not now. Yesterday premium at our Sam's was cheaper than diesel. This is a source of some amusement to my wife as I drive the diesels in the household. The price change puts our SUVs on an equal footing in terms of cost per mile, hers on premium, mine on diesel. Not too fussed as the BMW 4-door diesel gets 40+ mpg that no equivalent gasser can even approach, and that's my commuter vehicle. Still, there is some smirking going on.

Since there is now an "oil glut" can we stop putting ethanol in the gas and use the ethanol for its true use, "hand sanitizer"?

Prices will go back up when travel resumes, businesses start to make and ship products, and hotels start to fill up again.

Still, they won't go up more than they were before this all started.

Iran is almost insolvent, which has been the plan since 2017.
Russia is solvent, but still needs the money.
The Saudis are in much better shape, but haven't fully diversified as of yet.
The US is a net exporter of oil and gas, which puts us in a very good position.
