Default How I will remember 2020

Yes children, 2020 was the year when a roll of toilet paper was worth more than a barrel of oil.

2020 is the year that sports deprevation can be a serious psychological condition for the serious fans...like my son in law and my brother in law. But not me though...i'm immune.

As the year that I became the first 58 year old hippie in the history of the world to work two full time jobs, one in a coat and tie, the other in Carhartt coveralls and steel-toed boots!

Also as the first man to fall to his knees to kiss the barber shop floor when it reopens. I am going to give him a $100 bill for a $15 haircut!

2020, the year that high school seniors were all most all post 9/11 babies.
They entered the world in troubled times and graduated high school in a worse time. My grandson is one of them, born 9 days after 9/11.

2020 Every time I'm waiting like in a doctors office or a line I like to say that's time I will never get back. Now I have two months that I'll never get back, at my age it makes a difference. Now I'll just wait for a snark to say yes, but you're still alive.

2020 so far has been one of THE worst years of my life. My beautiful sweet Julie died at the end of Feb. My big orange cat Punkin died a week later. Now I have to watch all this kung flu **** destroy my beloved Republic while being told to cower at home. There are still 8 months to go.

I keep going back to 20/20 being considered perfect eyesight. Not much perfect, or even good, about this 2020.

In general, 2020 will be remembered as the year the compulsive handshakers and huggers made a lot of psychiatrists very rich.

For me specifically, 2020 will be remembered as the year I found out just exactly how much I love touching my face.

2020 Colt Python!

I hope mine comes in before 2021.

Be my luck the day I get it, I'll also get a dose of the dreaded Covid.

People kind of scoff at the idea that we could undergo a famine, probably because we get food from all over the world now. But let's throw out the old Biblical word and just call it a severe and long lasting food shortage. With the climate shifting around or for any reasons. We had a bad year from TOO much rain a ways back

This was a minor warning. You could get food if you worked to find it. Think how people are going to react with a few years of store shelves being empty enough so that the first people in thd door get a few items and that's it. People really will go crazy. There were reports of farmers having food, but unable to get it to market

I'm not forecasting doom and gloom, but we are not nearly as secure as we think we are.

Mike—That is what I told my son—he will tell his grandkids of 2020 and they will listen in polite disbelief like I did when my grandparents told me of the Dust Bowl, Depression, Bonnie and Clyde robbing a store and shooting the town marshal, Pearl Harbor, etc.

Early in January, my wife and I took a loved pet poodle mix to the vet with an unusual abscess on her chin and throat. In a couple of days he called us in for a consultation. He told us that she had a virulent form of cancer and it probably could not be cured by surgery or chemicals. He couldn't look us in the eye while telling us. I asked what would happen if we didn't do any kind of treatment. He said she would eventually die in progressively extreme pain. I told him to put her down asap. I wondered if the year could get any worse. It proved that it could.

2020 has been pretty mundane for me. The broken shoulder only took 9 weeks to heal and I did get in 3 weeks of skiing before all the resorts closed early. It only took 3 days to replace my entire roof that I thought was only a slight leak. Then, the septic backup during a heavy rain storm in February only took a few days to dry the basement out and remove all the contaminated carpet. The asbestos contaminated sheet rock took a little longer to abate and remove. Complete repairs should be done by July. With the shut down of gyms and pools I have become proficient at using cans of soup and water jugs to improve strength and restore range of motion to my injured shoulder. My new best friend is my Nespresso machine since going out for coffee is not now an option. My second new best friend is my noise canceling headphones that I wear when outside working on my wife’s new, expanded garden and landscape project list that I can’t escape. Yup, just the usual, nothing to report year so far. I think I will take a nap now.

2020 started off with a bang! LSU won the National Championship going 15-0! I turn 65 this year and get all the oldster medical freebees! Social Security is awaiting for me, to pay me back all the money I gave them until I die. I am exempt from CLE for the rest of my life. I remain dashingly handsome-amazingly witty and remarkably healthy, All in all so far 2020 is looking pretty good-except for that Corona ****. But that is a mere sped bump in the grand scheme of things

Time is like money in that when you have lots of both you are not aware of the true value of either.

Time and money are different in that if you have a dollar and spend it you can get another dollar. If you have an hour and spend it you can never get it back, it's gone forever. And the older we get the more time we spend thinking about that.
