Snowbird down in Kamloops !
A canadian forces jet has crashed in residentisl area in kamloops
The video i saw showed two jets taking off then one peeling off as though to turn back then seemed to stall . a big puff of smoke came out and the plane dropped like a rock
Reportedly the pilot ejected late and landed on someones roof , probably staying with his machine to attempt to put it down somewhere safe
Emergency crews on scene so far ive heard the pilot is alive and the elderly couple that lived in the house are accounted for
Edit to add : this is about a half mile from my home

The Valor of Pilets riding their plane down to protect those on the ground is just amazing!

Very sad incident, indeed. It appears as though the aircraft experienced a compressor stall and loss of thrust of its single GE J85 engine on initial climb out. The pilot’s apparent effort to return to the runway resulted in a loss of airspeed to the extent that the aircraft stalled, resulting in a spin (one plus turns) before the pilot and PAO ejected. The pilot ended up landing on a house roof top and was taken to the hospital. What is still unknown to the general public is whether the PAO (deceased) was even able to fully eject, and/or whether she even had chute deployment. By the time they blew the canopy and ejected, they were at, or close to being at the limit of the ejection seat envelope. The video that was released doesn’t clearly show whether you’re looking at the canopy and one seat leaving, or whether the two (side by side) seats were successfully sequenced. All in all, a tragic day for the Snowbirds, and our Canadian neighbors. Our hearts are heavy in hearing this news, as most of yesterday was spent hoping for a miracle. RIP, Captain Jenn Casey.

I've seen them several times at airshows. Snowbirds always put on a great show. Thoughts and prayers for the family and friends. A pic I took at Halifax airshow several years ago.

A very sad event indeed. Malfunctions close to the ground with no altitude as a safety cushion tend to be the most unforgiving.
The pilot initiated a rapid climb, obviously to gain maximum possible altitude before running out of thrust.
That, in combination with the steep turn, must have pushed the aircraft into the stall/spin sequence faster than they could react, and they weren’t able to eject until they’d lost half the altitude again.
It seems miraculous (literally) that one of them did survive. I could see no chute deployment at all on any of the video clips I found.

They were the advance party for the next airshow. On board the fallen bird were the pilot and PR officer (the female fatality). it is not unusual for there to be two aboard at times. They sometimes take up local news reporters.
