UPS Service - is an oxymoron
UPS Service - is an oxymoron
Yesterday I found a "Sorry we missed you ..." not from UPS on my door.
I was not expecting any package.
Quote:
Package(s) will be delivered to the UPS Access Point location below by the end of the next deliver day.
|
The space detailed for

LOCATION NAME / STREET ADDRESS
|
was totally blank.
All the rest of the form was also totally blank.
It only took SIX CALLS to get a human and find the missing UPS Access Point locationaddress.
Their automated answering system demands a tracking number.
Of course the was not tracking number on the note.
Fully frustrated - I entered the and eventually reached a human.
Every call mentioned that at the end I could complete a survey.
WRONG! They hung up on every call!
When talking to the human I said that I wanted to make a complaint about the driver leaving a BLANK form - they hung up.
UPS Service - is an oxymoron

Have been successful in packages delivered to my nearby UPS store.
But - have gotten ring and run at my house.
And let’s don’t forget the coffeemaker throw into next door neighbors backyard.
Worse one - ordered $1,200 of silver. The dealer uses the UPS which switches to Post Office.
Package arrives in town, UPS says transferred to USPS, PO say we never got it.
So away we go!
Finally, 10 days, later, get a doorbell ring.
It’s UPS Ringing and Running.
My Silver is laying on my stoop.

Look at the bright side you did get it, if not you would be filling out all sorts of forms and who knows when you would get your money back.

For the past 15 years I have had the same UPS driver and service has been outstanding. Except when he was off and then service was hit or miss. However 15 years ago I had Amazon Prime and like clockwork free second day delivery. Now days the prime cost has went up and delivery is when ever they get around to it. I dropped Prime because I stopped getting the service I was paying for.

I think a lot depends, maybe it mostly depends, on the individual driver.
My brother in rural Va hates FEDEX and loves UPS. He caught the FEDEX guy, who drives a dirty truck and who is constantly changing, threatening his dogs, whereas the UPS guy who drives a clean truck and has been delivering to my brother's house for years, knows his dogs well and brings them doggie treats.
My pharmacy FEDEXed some drugs to me right before Thanksgiving. They took a week to get to me.

I don't attempt to contact UPS customer service ,problem is shortage of workers and seasonal temp workers . Packages are constantly delivered to wrong apartments . Nice Lady from other side of complex brought mine , another delivered to my door was apartment next building 3rd floor. On the bright side UPS did deliver a package from Midway USA in 3 days usually takes a 2 weeks and gets lost UPS to USPS Birmingham .

My deliveries from UPS have always been great. The last one was made at 10:30 pm. All UPS personnel have my sympathy this time of year. I tip the driver generously.

I am perhaps the outlier here but I have found all my delivery's the past year whether from FedEx, UPS, USPS or Amazon completely satisfactory.

I have not had a problem with any of those that wasn't quickly rectified to my satisfaction.
If you think about it they all do a Herculean task.

UPS is getting desperate.
Yesterday I saw a person in a UPS uniform delivering package from the rear of a Chevy Suburban filled with boxes. Two day ago I received a UPS parcel from a driver using a U-Haul rental trucks.

It is hard to find good help these days so soon after the government was paying bonus unemployment for doing nothing.

I recently got a Amazon package delivered by a ‘civilian ‘ driving what appeared to be a personal car.
I asked him who he worked for, he replied Amazon.

I worked for Big Brown for 26 years.
What you describe is perfectly normal for this time of year.
They rent every U-haul, Ryder, Penske, and Budget cube van they can get their hands starting about the first of November every year.
The last two or three weeks before Christmas just about every management person in the company is delivering packages - and a lot of them are using their own personal vehicles because there aren't enough UPS or rental vehicles to go around. Through the years, I've delivered from my own Suburban, Jeep Cherokee, Chevy Tracker, and Kia Borrego.
I was in Plant Engineering - maintaining facilities and conveyor systems. But for 2-3 weeks in December every year I was hustling packages. One year when the Seattle area got an unusual amount of snow I was delivering packages every day from the week before Thanksgiving all the way into the first week of the new year. 45 calendar days. I've been out delivering until as late as 8 or 9 pm on Christmas Eve MANY times.
E-commerce has been growing the package delivery business pretty steadily for the last 15+ years, but this pandemic has caused the number of packages being delivered to absolutely EXPLODE. That's OK by me since I'm retired and still have a BUNCH of UPS stock (the share price as nearly doubled since the pandemic started!) This is my fourth Christmas that I haven't had to be out delivering.
But for years it has been a case of all hands on deck for Christmas season every year. No matter what your position is, very able bodied management person is required to have a set of "browns" (driver uniform) ready to wear come November every year.

Kind of like the trash collectors. Hurts my back just thinking about doing that every day. Our Chewies boxes that came were so dang heavy I had to wait for wife to come home to get it in the house! Heck, SHE ordered the junk! They stuff 200# of stuff into a 50# box, and write on the box how great they were to save the world by stuffing it all in one box!

This should be an auto reply for all threads that start with "USPS, UPS, or FedEx". Especially at Christmas time ......
