Big old ears need new muffs
Howdy, as we age our hearing gets weaker but our ears grow bigger. I find that all the amplified muffs that we own hurt my ears after an hour or so, and don't go loud enough.
Who can recommend muffs that amplify more and fit big ears?
Thanks

I have never tried them, but you might want to look at models of amplified ear plugs that you insert in your ear, sort of like hearing aids, only with the shut off circuitry of amplified shooting muffs.

I have a set of Howard Leight Sport muffs that I like and work well for me, even in indoor ranges, but I have no idea how they'd work for you. Wish I could be more help.

We have a bunch of those, but they hurt my ears. My ears are too big.

It's been a few months, maybe there are some new old guys out here now with a recommendation?

I have no real solution for you but I have an understanding of your dilemma. Years ago I knew an in demand studio drummer that had difficulty with listening to the pilot track in his headphones because he would have to cram his large ears into them and after a few takes he was extremely uncomfortable and struggled to "feel the groove" because of the nagging discomfort.
He contacted several manufacturers and AKG made several sets for him with extra large cups.
Contact Howard Leight and others and see what they can offer you. It sure wouldn't hurt.
I wish you luck.

They re more expensive, but any of the muffs with gell pads. They are softer and will seal arround glasses. I really lime the MSA muffs.
