Just one whiskey
In keeping with the just one theme what is the whiskey you would choose if tyrannical government said just one for you.
Here's mine.

Only one kind of whiskey?
Leaves an array of all sorts of spirits unlimited: vodka, gin, brandy, liquors, fortified wine (MD 20/20).
I prefer cognac anyway.

George Dickel is my #1, but most often the #7 that I can actually afford. I prefer it over the #12 after doing extensive SxS testing. LOL
Have never even seen anything like that hand labeled bottle pictured.

My uncle used to make his own not to mention the other folks. Somebody told him that the secret was in the aging to which he replied, "I let a batch age for two days one time and damned if I could tell any difference ".

JD Sinatra is about a fine and mellow a sippin' whiskey as I've ever had as well. JD Gold has a different taste and is a bit easier on the wallet, but still worth a go.

That’s interesting. How old is your bottle? It doesn’t have the signature of the master distiller on the front label. I procured a little stash when John Lunn quit in 2016 and am just on my last bottle, haven’t seen one since.

That's just a stock photo. Here's my actual last bottle bought at the Dickel store in Tullahoma last November. Thankfully their Barrel Select is darn good too and easier to find.

Talkin about Dickel, Sheepdawg. This is from their reopening in the early 60's. Distilled and bottled in Cascade Holler, Tullahoma, TN. My brother and his buddy found the barn where it was being stored, broke in and stole a couple cases. They would have gotten more but they were in a VW bug.

I haven’t had a drink in over 50 years. Maybe that’s what I’m missing in my life lol. I need to go to the packy before 11/2 to stockup. Supplies are low.

One whiskey? That would be bourbon.
One offering? Too many good ones to select one.
I can be satisfied with some inexpensive bottles, Wild Turkey 101 is an excellent value. I like Evan Williams White Label.
I loved Henry Mckenna 10yr old Bottled In Bond @ $27 until the price nearly tripled.
I've gotten to where I pickup a bottle or two of Rebel Yell 100 on a fairly regular basis.
Booker's if someone else is buying!

The Glenlivet, prob. the basic 12 yr. old. Cost isn't a big deal at the rate I've drunk whiskey.

My brother-in-law bought a keg of whiskey back in 94. The distillery changed hands twice but it was bottled when it was 16 years old. It is a good whiskey but he suddenly had 22 cases of this whiskey.
I like Scotch Whisky and Irish Whiskey. I can tolerate bourbon and American whiskey. I would have never paid what he did for a keg of unknown quality. He used 8 cases at my nieces wedding and has another 8 put away for my other niece. It is a good whiskey but not a great whiskey but a lot better than any bourbon I have had. He has given me 3 bottles over the past 10 years. I still have all three, two are opened and the third is not. Not counting the 8 he has put away he still has at least 3 or 4 cases of this stuff.

If $ were no object, I would say "Red Breast". If $ is a factor then regular Jameson. But when $ is not too much of a factor, my current "long term
senior citizen enjoyment and relaxation plan" is Jameson Caskmates Stout edition...SMOOOOOOoooooth

But Jamesons is "good enough" with no Negative qualities

The only booze in our house since we moved in back in 1982,,
has been 3 bottles of REAL high proof flavored rum (151 proof, IIRC)
all three recently purchased.
That, and 1/4 pound of vanilla beans,, we hope to have superior vanilla extract in 6 months , or so,,
No alcohol consumption,, not by choice, but, because both the wife and I get headaches from the stuff,, REAL easy,,,
The vanilla extract is 21 days old, right now,, where are my chocolate chip cookies!! ??
Its gonna be a L O O N N G five more months

Some of my favorites would be, Buffalo Trace when it can be had in my area, Wild Turkey, Glenlivet, Bushmills, haven't tried Tullamore Dew but that is next on the to do list. Maybe Black Bush.

Poster 'Absalom' must be lurking in the background of this thread: He has recommended several whiskeys to me, all of which I now adore. Glad to see so many here like Dickel 12: I've been unable to find the higher Dickel grades here in the valley. Dickel 12 is also hit-or-miss. Knob Creek is worth keeping in the house.
As to poster 'Babysitr' not opening a John Lunn bottle, open it. You're only depriving yourself. Bottoms up!

For me that one whiskey would be Henry McKenna Single Barrel Bottled in Bond. Sadly, it has become unobtainium at a reasonable price if and when you can find it.
My everyday go to is Evan Williams Bottled in Bond with the white label. Same mash bill as the McKenna but only aged 4 or 5 years.
