Default I'm Still In Shock!

Had a 10:30 am routine annual checkup with the Doctor. Signed in at 10:27 am, walked out the door at 10:45 am. Weighed in, BP checked, saw the Doc, they drew blood, and I was on my way.

18 minutes, no wonder I'm still in shock.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Most MD's have had their income cut so severely they now have to see double and triple the patients per day. Many who have sold out to large corporations and conglomerates such as ProHealth and alike are mandated to see so many patients per day or else their salary is cut.

Drive up window health care is coming to a CVS near you soon!

My annual physical exams at the VA clinic are super fast also. The doctors back is to you. They stare into their computer, ask script yes/no questions, click yes/no answers in the computer. The appointment is over.

I haven’t been in awhile. My last two cardiologist appts,I sat in a crowded waiting room (all in our masks) for 20 minutes, the dr mostly studies her monitor, doesn’t tell me much,I’ve already had a stroke this year and learned I have a bum heart (congenital) There’s no surgery for my glitch, but they want me to come in monthly?
I think that practice is padding the bottom line..

Most modern “high traffic” offices budget 6 min per visit. Of course, if’ you get my doc buddy talking guns, well it’ll be awhile. Joe

My doc's waiting room is the parking lot! You have to have a mask on to get in the door, then put their masks on. I took my wife for her 3 weeks ago. With drawing blood it was less than 20 minutes, I saw him in June, it took longer, he needed to tell me to: Loose weight, exercise, and eat healthy (again). (I don't know how much they bill the insurance for the consultation!)

My last visit went like this: Call when you get here, wait in your vehicle, and we will come out and get you when we are ready. Came out, checked my temp, made sure I had my mask before letting me in and escorted me straight into exam room where I filled out needed paperwork. No one in waiting room whatsoever. After about 10 minute physical waited in the exam room until they brought me new script for next bloodwork and appt. and escorted me out the door. I was probably there for 20 minutes tops. I have another one on Tuesday so I'll see how that one goes.

That is very close to the way my last Dr appointment was. My first appointment this year was by computer on an app called Doxy Me.

Before the Covid thing all of my annual VA check-ups took less than 30 minutes. I always do the blood draw within a two week period prior to check-up, the blood work is on the computer, in and out. I usually check in early and have kept track of the time I wait from the time my appointment was scheduled, it is nearly always less than fifteen minutes. The last one due to Covid we did over the phone, although I still did the blood draw.

Check the procedure code that was billed. It’s five digits and possibly a suffix. If you look up the code it will indicate a specific period of time that was spent with the doctor.

I used to pay my PCP $150 for a visit when I had my High deductible health plan. For that reason I started to go to the local urgent care that was run by our hospital and is excellent. That cost me 100 bucks and I didn’t need an appointment.
Now that I’m on Medicare I just go to whatever doctor is convenient and it’s all covered.

I'm supposed to see my doctor Monday, and on previous experience it won't be an 18 minute visit.

My GP; good friend, and S&W & Coonan collector, works at lightening speed. Admits he's been at it too long, and doesn't take new patients. So after the doctor part, we talk guns for a 1/2 hour.

At my last visit my doc asked if I could spare a box or two of 9mm.
Also got the good news-bad news. My arthritis is getting worse but my overall health is good so I have a good chance of living long enough to lose the use of my hands.
Yeah.

18 minutes???? Nice!

I had a 10am routine appointment in the summer of 2019 and hoped to be on the golf course before noon.

I arrived at 9:45, was called into an examining room at about 10:45 and didn’t see the doctor until 11:15. He had the nerve to ask why my blood pressure was so high...

Something similar happened to me yesterday at the Dentist. I got there ten minutes early and he was sitting at the chair waiting for me. Thirty minutes and $737.00 later and I was out of there.

Yesterday I had a 1:30 appointment. Got there at 1:15 (like they ask)
Called in to exam room about 2:50, waited about 10 minutes and a nurse practitioner came in. I need a shot in the hip but have to wait until next Friday. So I left in pain and never saw the doctor. Pretty disgusting. The waiting room was full.

National health care in Japan includes dentistry, as I assume it does in most developed countries.

I remember spending $600 in the early 1980s to put a crown on a broken tooth. I was a starving student at the time, and it broke the bank. A few years later, in my early thirties, I arrived in Japan, was eligible for national health care, went to a dentist who found and repaired 13 cavities over three months.

(Why we put up with our US health system is beyond me. Be interesting to hear how many members who believe the US system is best have lived in other first world countries with national health care. Anecdotal don't count. Personal experience only. First world only.)

This is the first year that I have had dental insurance. I was previously offered it but did the math. The amount of the premiums for the insurance and the amount I had to pay over that were almost the same as if I didn't have the dental insurance. Starting this year I get $1.000.00 a year with no copay. It covers most things. I need three caps at $1,000.00 a pop so I got one a few days ago, will get another next month because it's a different year, and will wait until January of 2022 to get the other. Hopefully nothing will happen between now and then. I can remember when I could get a tooth filled for $5.00. But, a Coke was a nickel then. I think the cost of dental work has gone up too much. I suspect the insurance companies have unwillingly caused some of this by agreeing to pay the high prices. If insurance pays $1,000.00 for a crown that means the person without the insurance has to pay the same $1,000.00. I have a friend who has a dentist that is a gun guy. My friend has no dental insurance. My friend has bartered over $5,000.00 worth of his guns for dental work. I don't use that dentist.

I thought the $450 for my last dentist visit, 90 minutes to rebuild a broken tooth, was high.

Must be your area, I've used the VA for 36 years and they always face me unless they have to turn around to get something then they turn right back around.
