Mike Pinder co-founder of Moody Blues, dies at 82

Pinder’s family announced his death in a statement shared with Pinder’s former Moody Blues bandmate John Lodge, noting that Pinder “passed peacefully” Wednesday “surrounded by his devoted family” at his Northern California home. No cause of death was provided...

His contributions to rock music were many, and hopefully on Tuesday afternoon, he had the presence of mind to contemplate those great days of future passed, and on the threshold of a dream, made one step into the light, surrounded by his children's children's children, who were watching and waiting.

My very first rock album was "Seventh Sojourn". They were an awesome band.

I love their music… In the late’60’s I played their albums pretty continuously. Great stuff.

Unique band with a sound that easily switched from contemplative to bombastic.
That musical line up in the Cosmos is growing much too fast as of late.

That is sad....
The music of 'The Moody Blues' affected me profoundly. Especially 'A Question of Balance' and 'Every Good Boy Deserves Favour'. And Mike Pinder was a wizard with the sound he got from the Mellotron, a notoriously cranky instrument that he also had the mechanical skills to keep working even during serious failures in live concerts. AND he inspired John Lennon to use the Mellotron in his 'Strawberry Fields Forever'. Lennon's riff was extremely simple, but it's a landmark in song openings that people know instantly.
But back to Mike Pinder. He achieved a sound that seemed born out of and for the cosmos. He was instrumental to the Moody's success in performing and in songwriting.

Yes. The Cosmos has gone from a great band to an orchestra this decade. R.I.P. Mike.
