My wife's favorite candy is a box of Whitman's Sampler. She was recently diagnosed with diabetes so I thought that was out. I found out that they also make a sugarless box and she really likes it. They are hard to find but if your lady likes Whitman's the sugarless brand is just as good. Luckily, I found 2 boxes and she'll be getting them for Valentine's Day.;)

The only thing I remember about my Mom getting the Sampler was the crushed pieces caused by my brother and I trying to figure what the filling was. That did not make her happy nor did we feel the love on that episode.

Sugar alcohol's are used to substitute sugar in some products.

Beware of the potential side affects.

Just saying...

bdGreen

"Many sugar alcohols can cause gas, bloating, and stomach aches, especially when eaten in large amounts, and some people may be more sensitive to this effect than others.

If you have an upset stomach when eating “sugar-free” or other foods sweetened with sugar alcohols, read the ingredients to see what kind of sugar alcohol is in the product. You may want to avoid foods that have that type of sugar alcohol, or cut back on how much you eat in one sitting."

The first time I tried the Sugar Free Candy I overdid it and got the Big D.
And I was out of Town.
I still eat it, but in Moderation!
Usually Russell Stover.

Whitman's sugar free Sampler has been available for several years now. They are pretty tasty. Russell Stover and Pangburn's (all owned by the same parent company, Lindt) also make good sugar free chocolates. I believe Stover was the first to introduce really good sugar free chocolates in the late 90s. Their stable mates Whitman's and Pangburn's soon followed suit. All are equally good, and I guess they should be since they're really the same company.

There were other sugar free chocolates prior to those, but the quality was just not there.

I really should proofread before posting to avoid correcting typos.

BTW, if you decide to get some, Walgreen's has a buy one, get one free sale right now. They have very few sugarless so jump on it quickly if you can.

HoustonRick, did you read the part where I said it's her favorite candy? Don't think I'll get screamed at for that. *s*

I had a small supplier that would give me a Whitmans Sampler every Christmas. I don’t know if they were old stock, but they were terrible. They had a taste I can only describe as chemical. It got to the point that I’d accept it graciously, so not to hurt his feelings, and toss it after he left.
Just my personal experience.
