Happy anniversary to "Hickok45," a retired middle-school teacher who has been firing every gun in the world on YouTube for 15 years glorious years | Not the Bee

From the picture heavy article:

It all started inconspicuously enough, 15 years ago, in late July of 2007.

For a decade and a half, Hickok45—aka Greg Kinman, a retired middle-school English teacher—has been shooting, critiquing and reviewing thousands of guns. Essentially the creator of the YouTube gun channel, he has been the go-to for gun aficionados wanting to learn more about firearms as well as gun buyers looking to get an expert opinion on a new firearm purchase. For years, if you've wanted a gun, chances are Hickok45 has shot it and reviewed it.

He has also been known as a scourge on the soda-drinking community, having personally shot and drained what many experts believe is upwards of 45,000 gallons of soda over his long tenure. Some of his more memorable soda drops include one with an SAM7SF...

Happy 15 years, Hickok, and thank you for all you've done. Here's to another wonderful 15!

I like him very much.

And I dislike him very much.

The dislike comes from his too
many general statements and
lack of specifics while critiquing
a gun. And his ramblings get
wearisome.

But he does a valuable service
in showcasing lots of firearms.
And he shows the potential of
even the "modest" handgun.

You may be wondering: How much does hickok45 earn?

Monetized YouTube channels generate income by displaying advertising for every thousand video views. YouTubers can earn an average of between $3 to $7 per thousand video views. Using these estimates, we can estimate that hickok45 earns $52.24 thousand a month, reaching $783.62 thousand a year.

Our estimate may be low though. On the higher end, hickok45 might make as high as $1.41 million a year.

I'm glad he makes good money reviewing guns on the 'net. Always my favorite to go to for an honest review. Good for him, and good for the 'net, presenting honest information. Unlike some others who have grown poplular, he shoots everything he reviews, a lot.

Forum member GF and I were set up at an RK New Years show about 5 years ago. Decent 500 table show held in the livestock hall at the Louisville Fairgrounds.

We would often see Hickok at the National Gun Day shows but he didn't usually make the small shows. He'd screwed up his calendar and thought this was NGD w-end. We had an end cap filled with revolvers and older long guns but most of the room was tactical.

He hung around our table most of the day and he is as common as cornbread. Big man at about 6'8" and played college basketball back in late 60s. Full of good stories and easy to pass the time with. I'm happy for him and I think he is an asset to the gun community.

I go to him every now and then and enjoy his little talks on a good or bad report on a gun.
After 15 years, he has finally learned how to hit those long distance gongs, with most of the guns and ammo used.

Yes, he does make a mess with the soda pop bottles but it fun to see how each one dies !!

I used to watch him a fair bit, but the videos wore thin. Except this:

I'm not big on most gun channels generally (exceptions for Forgotten Weapons and some inrange content) but he did a great job monetizing a hobby and I've always had the impression he'd be a good guy to spend an afternoon with if you were lucky enough to get the chance.

What a perfect summation. There have been times in his videos I've wanted to scream "cut to the chase!" at the computer. Then I discovered the "advance 10 seconds" keyboard control. When he's rattling on a bit, just press the "L" key.

Yup-a sort of goofy fellow with an excellent sense of humor! I watch him more for entertainment than for reviews or knowledge as he’s better at the sheer entertainment.

He’s done quite well for himself but should now pull the other gun guys and channels together to find a new platform to air their videos on without fear of being censored, demonetized or cancelled! Enough is enough!
