Cereal and milk
When I was a kid, growing up in the 1950's, I enjoyed a bowl of cereal and milk for breakfast.
As I grew into my teen aged years, I found sleeping late more enjoyable than breakfast, and eschewed the morning meal pretty much until after I retired about 15 years ago.
I went back to the old routine of a bowl of sweetened cereal with whole white or chocolate milk while perusing the Forum, whenever "morning" happens to arise (I love being retired!)
Anybody else do the cereal and milk thing?
John

Have eaten about cereal there is -
My Lady MD wants to go low sugar, Sugar.
Most prepared cereals including my Fav Raisin Bran are sugar loaded.
Happened to see a lady on TV making Soaked Oats.
She used regular Oats and soaked overnight.
That’s not the real me!
So I make it with Quick Oats, Low Fat Milk, Sweetener.
Stir, add usually frozen fruit. Eat it!
So with the Oats and avoiding kryptonite - the end is not in sight.
This thread needs music.

When my brothers were little kids, they went to a day care/pre school while my mother worked, and my father went to school. They were given breakfast every day. The first day they go up to get their food and the lady asked if they wanted hot or cold breakfast. My older brother said hot, probably thinking of bacon and eggs. He got a bowl of hot "oatmeal mush". My younger brother, seeing this, asked for cold, thinking he would get Cheerios or Frosted Flakes. You guessed it. A bowl of cold "oatmeal mush". They both grew up loving cereal and milk. Oatmeal? Not so much.

As a bicyclist I find they make an excellent breakfast, full of good carbohydrates and natural sugars. I drink 2% milk bur find 4% goes better with cereal.

Ray, my SIL, heads up the second shift electrical maintenance crew at the Cincinnati General Mills plant. It is massive. All the Rice Chex and Cinnamon Toast Crunch are made there.
Guess what the cereal fairy keeps dropping off on my porch.

I am not a big breakfast eater, but I do like a bowl of Special K cereal with the freeze dried strawberries topped with 2% milk.
A big, greasy breakfast, and I want to go back to bed.

Ruthie loves cereal. Her favorites in order:
1: Frosted Mini Wheats.
2: Rice Chex.
3: Maple & Brown Sugar instant oatmeal. (she keeps a box in her locker)
4: Cream of Wheat.
The boys simply don't care. Their criteria is that the box has cartoons on it.

Love all those kids cereals with cold milk. Could kill a box of Peanut Butter Capt Crunch, Fruit Loops, etc. after school - 70s and 80s. I wish I could still do that. I do, however, regularly eat Cream of Wheat and steal cut oats laced with brown sugar, maple syrup, berries, etc.

I frequently have a bowl of cereal and milk. follow that with either a bagel or English muffin.
I rotate between:
Fruit loops
Honeynut Cheerios
Frosted Mini Wheats
Sugar Pops
Captain Crunch (peanut butter)

I have cereal and skim milk 5 days a week. I have to stick with gluten free cereals so I usually have one of the Cheerios varieties. 2 days a week I usually fix eggs of some fashion and ham/bacon/sausage/goetta/spam/hash and a heated up pre-cooked hash brown patty. I typically eat a late breakfast and try to snack on fruit or something less healthy mid afternoon.
As a kid my dad got me up each weekday morning for school and he always fixed a big breakfast for us before he left for work.
I guess I've gone back to the old ways in my retirement.

A glass of dry Honey Nut Cheerios every morning...late morning!
Couple years ago in the fall I mistakenly bought a box of Pumpkin Spice Cheerios. Boxes looked very similar. One mouthful and they went in the trash.

Cheerios, sometimes Wheaties. 2% milk.
In the winter I'll make a hot multigrain cereal with some maple syrup.

When I was a kid, I dumped sugar on my Frosted Flakes. I had it down to a science to create the proper sugar/milk ratio to form a thick slurry at the bottom of the bowl when the cereal was consumed. Then I drank down the slurry!

Quaker Old Fashioned Oat meal ( better than a colonoscopy) cinnamon, and banana with skim milk. Washed down with Tim Hortons decaf, skim milk. No sugar.

Start with a layer of All Bran flakes or a reasonable facsimile, cut up a fresh date, arranged evenly. Sprinkle some chopped walnuts and drip about a teaspoon of local honey over the layer. Next, put a layer of another type of cereal that compliments the bottom layer. I have discovered the Kashi brand that resembles Shredded Wheat but comes in a variety of different flavors. On top of that you put on your blueberries and strawberries, if in season, and drown the whole mess with skim milk. While this has been going on, your blueberry bagel should be about toasted and you can spread some real butter and a little more honey on the slices. Top it all off with a big glass of V 8 juice and you are ready to tackle anything.

Gotta have my Frosted Flakes.
One serving with skim milk is 200 calories and 7 grams of protein.

I’ve always been a cereal eater. I don’t like the sweet stuff, so it’s usually corn flakes, Cheerios or shredded wheat. But… with whole milk. That and a piece of fruit and I’m good.
When I have time, it’s hot cereal. Bob’s Red Mill 8-grain or McCann’s oats.
Then there are the days for scrambled eggs, home fries and bacon. But then, that’s not what we’re talkin’ about . . . .
Always home-roasted coffee. Every morning. But then, we’re not talkin’ about that either. . . .

I have never been a fan of any kind of cereal, hot or cold. I did eat rice krispies with milk and sliced bananas some when I was a kid.
My normal breakfast now is coffee, juice, a banana, and a piece of whole grain toast. For a treat it is toaster waffles with blueberry syrup or eaten out of hand with blackberry jam. Sometimes an egg or 2 with toast.
My Mother would eat cold cereal twice a day, breakfast and bedtime snack, usually cornflakes or raisin bran

I found I was having stomach issues when drinking milk, even with lactose free milk so I quit eating cereal in the mornings. May try again after I retire in a couple years and see if it was stress related.

I grew up Australian Weetbix which may or may not be related to Rusty1957's Weetabix. Usually made with boiled water, milk, and a teaspoon of sugar on top. My kids eat it now.
Due to my weight issues and 2017 Bariatric Surgery, I now eat a concoction of diced Apple, Muesli, and Greek Yoghurt for breakfast. More protein in it and keeps me fuller for longer.

Eat cereal occasionally for a evening snack. Shredded wheat (Post original large biscuit /unsweetened), lactose free milk and a little brown sugar. Oatmeal for breakfast alot, but never considered it cereal.

My parents had us cereal every morning, with milk, of course, and a glass of milk after supper. Now, I can't eat on an empty stomach! Coffee and morning OTC vitamins and either script or OTC pain meds. But I do like me some cereal at night sometimes with Hershey's chocolate and minimal milk. That Hershey's chocolate is the nectar of the gods! (Except in Yuengling Beer. Whoever came up with that *&^&& (horrible combination) should have his man card taken away. In fact, it may have been a wife of some beer drinker that didn't know when to say when. Yes, I think I could live on milk and chocolate Rice Crispy cereal. Cocoa Krispys I think they're called.

Cereal
At 75 I have a small bowl of cereal with 2% milk almost every day.
I try to eat the healthier brands, but of course they are all laced with sugar.

Tomorrow morning I'm headed to the club for a grueling morning shooting trap. Then I'll spend the afternoon on the rifle range with a buddy.
I'll need a hearty breakfast. You all have given me some ideas.
It's gonna be bacon, eggs and home fries!

Sounds like something I used to do.

I developed a special breakfast sandwich during one of my bouts of unemployment. It's a poached egg on melted cheese on top of sliced turkey. I heat up the turkey and cheese on a Sandwich Thin or English muffin in the microwave. I spice up the turkey before heating. After poaching the egg in the microwave I put it on top of the cheese and turkey and cut a cross in the egg to let out any trapped gas. The final touch is adding Tony Chachere Original Creole Seasoning to the egg. Makes a nice start to the day.

Frosted mini wheats! Years ago I grabbed the box out of a lower cabinet and grabbed a handful. They were damp and frostless. I looked at my 2 yr old daughter, she mimed licking the sugar off and laughed lol

I am a cereal eater. I like Raisin Bran Crunch, Frosted Mini Wheats, or Cinnamon Oat Cheerios with 2% milk. I remember eating a bunch of cereal while in college. A roommate loved Capt'n Crunch. He ate a "Jethro" bowl every day. One day, he was out of milk and ate it DRY! His gums bled for the next few days!
