Whats the Rarest car you ever saw a ‘Regular’ Person daily drive?
I’m going with the first production Wankel Engine Car, the NSU Spider.
It belonged to a Young Lady from a Prominent South Texas Cotton Farming Family. San Benito, TX.

Go to about any car lot around here—a new one for sale!

I visited our largest jeep dealer in the state a few weeks ago. Not a SINGLE new Jeep Wrangler on the entire lot! We pulled the historical inventory of when I bought my last one, they had 85 new ones in inventory on that date a few years back.

Haven't got photos yet but a friend of mine has a 1956 Lincoln Mark11 that has done a frame off restoration. It has rack and pinion steering -9''Ford rear end- 4 wheel disc brakes-Ford 4.6 fuel injection- air cond. -and power every thing. Body was acid dipped and painted the original white. It's his daily driver. IT looks at least this good. At the time this car cost much as a Rolls Royce. 4800 POUNDS

Guy at work had one of these as a daily driver in the UK. Vauxhall Sportshatch, only 197 built.

At that time I also owned a GM of similar vintage. It wasn't until recently I discovered that my car was one of just 525 built.

I could look out of the window of our barracks and see the front door of the plant. In the lobby was production car serial number 1.

The most rare car I've seen being used as a semi-daily driver was a Porsche 917 owned by a lawyer who had offices in Heilderburg and Stuttgart. Somehow he managed to get an Autobahn only license to use it to commute between offices. All I saw was a blur as he passed.

I saw this at a Cars and Coffee in Charlotte one year. The owner said he drove it a fair amount, although not as a DD. I don't think I could have made myself drive that car in Charlotte traffic to get to the show, much less drive it for fun elsewhere.

It's a 1947 Cisitalia 202 SMM Nuvolari, only 120 ever made, and the type placed second in 1947 in the Mille Miglia race.

I have a friend who's Father was a car collector so he inherited a number of collectible cars. He says that he owns a BMW 507. I have never heard of one. A quick internet search tells me that it's crazy rare and stupid valuable. I don't know much else about it.

He also owns one of the craziest Lamborghini's that they ever offered, the LM002.

Sorry that I don't have pictures but if you are a gearhead, you either know both or you are curious enough to search them yourself! :D

A few more The hairy one belonged to a girl named Sarah. The Plymouth is a freshly restored 383. The gray one is fresh out of the shop. The one on the right is pretty rare.-Olds was a daily driver but was sold.

A 67 Hemi GTX, triple black is in my dreams, but that 383 would do.

Seen some cool, rare stuff out on the road, but as far as daily drivers go? Would have to be the neighbor with a 1972 De Tomaso Pantera. He eventually sold it and bought a 911 Targa because he said he only got to use 25% of the Pantera.

A 67 Hemi GTX, triple black is in my dreams, but that 383 would do.
My best friend Bob had a black Hemi 68 Roadrunner. It had a radio and heater. For some reason it was ordered with 323 gears. It didn't start running good until about 80mph. Another guy I know ordered a a new yellow Dodge Dart with a Hemi. He made a few payments and let it go back. When they repo it --it had a wrecking yard 318 motor. The HEMI motor and torque flight ended up in a '40 Willis with a clutch flight setup. He was a service manager at a Plymouth dealership and told them the motor blew up. There was no warranty on Hemi motors but the 440 had a 50000 mile warranty and ran just as good without modification

I can't make out the model name on the rear left side. Does it say "DelRay" or "BelAir"? Looks like BelAir trim.

Either way, I like it!
BelAir-It's the one four barrel motor-Factory Warner 4 speed. The way to tell a 409 from 348 was the location of the dip stick. The motor is dirty in this photo- It sit for a while when he was in the hospital.

Knew an AF E-5 who tried to daily drove one of the Car-Boat cars.
He reported he had trouble getting parts and keeping it going.

The rarest Car

The rarest car that I saw driven daily.

My son owned and drove a Carol Shelby factory built, Sunbeam Tiger for several years. It was parked overnight in my driveway nightly for a couple of the years that he drove it.

He had every factory accessory available for it.

Chubbo

A mechanic friend of mine is putting together a super rare
'70 ram air V Pontiac. I haven't taken any photos of the car yet but here are original iron heads. You can find an aluminum head but no Iron. I think He laid out $5000 for the castings. There were very few made. Someone from a car magazine is going to do a right up when he gets it going. A coke can fits the ports. Push rods go it the middle tubes. How's that for breathing treatment for a goat?

Those are just nutz!
