A Quick TALE OF TWO ICE CREAMS

All in all I am pretty pleased with Publix. Up until 9 months ago I've never set foot in one. The store is very well run, super clean and there is one on almost every major intersection. Their prices are however a bit high, but their quality reflects that. The one thing that stands out is all their employees are so so polite it's almost like watching the movie Pleasantville.

No Publix stores around here. My favorite vanilla ice cream for decades has been Schwan's, the first two ingredients are cream and buttermilk.

KO

After 20 years in the ice cream biz, making and selling premium ice cream. I can be a little fussy when it comes to store bought ice cream. But Publix seems to have found the “sweet spot” for cost and quality.

Being a Philly kid when I think of ice cream I think Breyer’s. I don’t buy ice cream to often, but when I do it’s Breyer’s or Turkey Hill. There were two other ice cream brands I used to buy, PennSupreme and Sealtest, but they ceased to exist years ago.

One other defunct ice cream brand deserves mention, Richman’s Ice Cream from Woodstown, NJ. We used to stop at the Richman’s dairy coming back from the shore on Rt.40. They had really good ice cream.

Yep. I remember seeing the old Breyer's signs in my part of Penn's Woods hanging outside the Mom & Pop grocery stores.

I remember Sealtest too.

Damn, I'm getting old

I live fifty miles from the factory. I'm kinda partial to it myself...

Been trying to figure out a way to combine their ice cream and their cheese. Let me tell ya, pleasing alliteration aside, cheddar and chocolate don't go together.:D
