This weekend is one of the two Alabama State Collector Shows held each year in Hoover, AL (near Birmingham). It is not to be confused tith the traveling flea market that travels the state in the guise of a gun show.
We will be attending with friends from Warrior, AL. Status reports will be on line for Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately we will not be able to stay for the finale on Sunday as I have to be in Dothan early on Monday for outpatient surgery.
Stay tuned.

I'm planning on being there Saturday morning if things go as planned. Not really looking for anything in particular just looking and enjoying the show.
By the way, there are 3 a year, March, July and October, but who's counting.

I'll see y'all Saturday if all goes well. Are you setting up a table? A lot of members set up and leave Friday, not as much "hanging around" as at some shows. Good luck, glad you're going to finally make it.:) I've been trying to get Wiregrass Guy to go for years, lol.

RE: Hoover Show

There are nore pre 1980 S&Ws than I have seen in ages. Some affordable and others out of my price range. Lots of other brands available and newer S&Ws too.
We are at C-4 with a maroon table cover. Ray and I have mostly pre-1980 S&Ws.
Met some fellow SWCA folks that I didn't know.
I will have a Saturday report this evening.

Sold a 3" M36 before I even got to my table where it was located. Debbie told the buyer that I was on my way in from the parking lot.
There was a pretty good crowd at 9AM waiting to buy their way in.
Very little trading from the floor. Saw a few pieces being carried around, but very little interest in the table fodder from the general public. Most of the swapping was being done between vendors, same for outright sales.
Shortly after selling the M36 I found a Sig P6 (police version of the P225 9MM) It came with four zipper back single stack Sig Mags.
I actually got it for $15 less than I received for the M36.
But after finding the new Blue Book for $45, a new zippered pouch for $10, lunch for $7, $500 for a mote and mealsl and then some tools for another $13 I am behind the 8 Ball by a few dollars.
After about 10AM there was not much for Debbie and I to do except answer questions, run interference for fellow vendors and peruse the wares.
I saw several pieces that iwanted, but after I found the P-6 I resisted any more buying unless I sold something else.
Over all it is a well run show and we plan to return in March with our own table.
Even though we were not busy Ray made up for it. Between buying, selling and swapping he had a very good day and is planning on returning tomorrow for the Grand Finale.
We are glad that we came.
I was also able to meetup with some more SWCA and forum members.
They are as great in person as they are on the forum.
